Kitsune, I agree with you in one respect. EQ is more "high fantasy" than DAoC is. It allows you to travel to different planes, to the moon and even attack and slay the god of your choice. If a high fantasy environment is what you are looking for, then EQ is the place to be.
DAoC is much lower on the fantasy scale. Its quasi-historical basis on Aurthurian, Norse and Celtic mythology, gives it a flavor and theme that is much easier to identify with than EQ.
I've also found that the RP on DAoC (although not perfect in the least!) is FAR better than EQ. And with the RvR aspect of the game, it allows players to really develop not only their characters but their enemies as well.
Overall I prefer DAoC, but I still play EQ and enjoy it's strengths as well.
EDIT - Shard, regarding the cabalist ... you are right. Its both a great solo and group class, BUT it requires a really good player to maximize its potential. Most Cabalists IMHO abandon the class before they really master it, which is a real shame as I have seen the effectiveness of a good Cabalist ... and its really scarry just how dangerous they are.
