Dark*Matter to D20 Modern?

Not really, but I'm not the one who brought that up. I'm just saying that Men in Black have an existance as part of the "new legendarium" that's completely independent of the movie. I don't see how the movie could have affected their ability to include a MIB critter, especially if they take the tack that MIBs are some kind of alien construct who are working on the alien's behalf, not humanity's.

I don't have my Menace Manual handy, but doesn't it mention that Sandmen are often mistaken for MiBs? (Maybe I'm thinking of one of my GURPS books). I'll have to dig out the ole MM, but I'm sure that MiBs are mentioned somewhere, albeit in passing.

Well, I'd recommend Pierce's as well for a read, even though it's not Dark*Matter. I've definately cribbed some ideas from Medallions. ;)

Heh heh...I clicked on the link to Pierce's Medallions storyline and just after reading the names and brief descriptions of the characters, I was hooked. Truly awesome, Pierce.

Hey man, I'm just a player in DrewId's fantastic imagination. Though I did guest direct Episode 5 - at this rate it won't make it to the SH until late 2009. :D

The MiB in Dark Matter had nothing to do with the MiB movie.

Actually, there were two types of them. One type were similar to the gadharyi (more so than the sandmen) and the latter were represented by CIA agents (and equivalents). I guess the latter might be a bit like J and K.

No information was given on the organization of the former group.

The sandmen are cool, but they don't have the abilities to be MiB... besides, they have their own cool hisotyr, but the Etoile are just broken :(

They wouldn't have to call Men in Black though. The "Grendelspawn" was obviously an ALIEN, but with a few differences :(

True, the Grendelspawn was sweet. But the "Star Doppleganger" (i.e. John Carpenter's The Thing ;) ) is still my favorite d20 Modern beastie.

As for the MiB issue, I'm convinced there is no licensing problem. GURPS Monsters and GURPS Illuminati both explicitly discuss MiB. It's an old urban legend.

To get off the MiB thing: I really don't think the D&D-style psionics matches the style of the old Dark*Matter/Alternity feel. I've just started using Green Ronin's Psychic's Handbook for a D*M style game, and I think it works much better (it's a skills & feats system by Steve "Mutants & Masterminds" Kenson). That, combined with the incantations from Urban Arcana make for a pretty good d20 Dark*Matter FX system.

Anyone else using variant FX systems for d20 Modern Dark Matter?

I don't have it yet but I do plan on getting it :p

I figured others here might want to take a gander at the thing :D
I just keep liking it more and more. I've been coding up all the Skills, Feats, and Classes in PCGen so I can make Psychic NPCs quickly.

FYI, the book uses an Advanced Class for the d20 Modern Psychic. In my game I'm making it a base class that is identical to the D&D Psychic class (p6) except I used the Advanced Class Class Skills list...

Once you've coded it all up, could you possibly post it to the boards?
I've not played with PCGen too much & I'm not that good at coding in Excel...

Thanks!!

One thing I'd recommed is dropping the d20 Modern Psi rules and use Green Ronin's Psychic's Handbook rules instead. They're great Psi rules in their own right, but they really have that D*M feel to them.

Second this. Giddy, GIDDY with this project.
