I agree. I'm still super-excited for it, but I think it could've done with its own system and mechanics. That being said, this means I can throw the Gaping Dragon at my regular D&D groups.

Essh... nothing against 5E, but Dark Souls is a unique beast that would have required something a bit different in my opinion. It's a game with such a rich content and lore. I'll wait and see what they do, maybe it'll be pretty different?

And here we go: Almost all of the items/weapons and stuff from Dark Souls 3 will be in this. Even if you don't use ANY of the mechanics, the Equipment section is probably gonna be stellar for cherry picking.

The main reason I'm disappointed about this is that there's already a Dark Souls TTRPG that sounds really interesting, and this means we're probably never seeing an official translation. Like if I want to run 5e in a Dark Souls style world, I can just do that. But designing an underlying system that better represents the feel of the game is beyond me, and that's what I'd buy a book for.

My group is very interested in Dark Souls 5e, probably because they expect me to run it. Since I never played the vidya I'm only intrigued by the new mechanics. Not to mention, with every variation on a D&D ruleset there's something to steal for house rules. Previous editions of D&D have mechanics that are worth stealing. I'm also looking forward to stealing Dark Soul's magic items and monsters.
