what is the point of psionics without a diverse full caster? aberrant only works for one idea and it is for the worst build caster in the game.

No, WotC discovered that their players can't decide what they want resionics, and they were too afraid to go forward with an option they favored, so they softballed the whole thing and counted on their now usual, "new players count more, and they don't know any better" excuse.

That doesn't mean people don't want a new psioncis system, that means they want one that involves spells. NOte that Mearls suggestions, which was using spell slots on psionic cantrips to augment them, never actually saw a UA release, despite being a very good idea for psionics. They basically took the easy way out.
