Kimet gazed at the glowing trove in wonder. “I think this might be why we were sent,” she commented, picking up one of the thick packages of paper wrapped in leather. Just more strange, squiggly lines. “What does it all mean, though?” She examined the glowing stones. She touched one, testing how firmly it was mounted. A bauble of light that didn’t go out would be useful, if she could pry one free without breaking it. They didn’t seem to have any fuel sustaining them.

The stones seem to be part of the shelves themselves, almost as if it was all grown as a single entity with a little effort they should come out with ease removing to many may cause the shelf to collapse.

Tarsin begins inspecting the books enthusiastically, attempting to learn whatever he can from skimming them, with the caveat that he doesn't really know what he's looking for. If they too are written in a foreign script, he casts Comprehend Languages (surreptitiously if possible).

Investigation : 1D20+3 = [12]+3 = 15

For being sneaky about casting, if relevant, either:
Deception : 1D20+4 = [2]+4 = 6

Sleight of hand : 1D20+3 = [4]+3 = 7

Tarsin remains profoundly unsneaky. In his excitement to discover whatever arcane secrets lie within, he gives short shrift to his efforts to hide his magic.

Tarsin grabs a book and opens it to see more of the strange script the books are remarkably well preserved. The writing inside is once again written in the odd script. Tarsin recognises certain symbols they match up to halting script though it doesn't help him decipher anything. Casting a spell not so sneakily allows the Templar to read the script. It appears to be some sort of folk tale about a halfling knight Thomas Briarbottom and how he charged through the Carsaract forest to slay a great evil. Tarsin does not recognise any names or locations featured in the tale, it is possibly set in a fictional world as it describes rivers and lush forests.

GM: Anyone paying any attention would of noticed Tarsin casting that spell as it was well below Passive perception scores.

The 'books' were strange enough - whatever Tarsin was doing almost put Chick into a panic. He has a mild panic-attack: clacking, pointing, and waving the torch at the spell-caster.

Tarsin continues searching through the library for anything that he might consider useful or relevant to what this place is or what powerful secrets it holds.

OOC: I don't want to force you to make up the contents of a bunch of books. I'm skimming for useful stuff as much as possible. Comprehend Languages lasts for an hour, although I don't want to hang out here doing this for that long.

GM: Oh don't worry I thought about this im trying to build somethings up.

The books contain various other Folk tales a theme among them is a lush verdant world teaming with wildlife. All the stories hint at some small life lesson things like be good to your neighbour and respect your elders.

"A bunch of useless fairy tales!" Tarsin seems distraught by just how different this is than what he was hoping for. "This is not what we came here for!" He begins looking around for another way forward.

Kimet pried a few of the glowing stones loose from the shelving to put in her pack. She glanced over at Tarsin, who was looking over the leather-bound sheafs of paper, and saw him mutter and gesture. Her heart leaped a bit, and she noted Chick had the same fear.

Immediately Kimet grabbed her maul. She pinned Tarsin to the wall with the heavy stone head. She’d fought Templars enough to know magic when she saw it!

“What did you just do?” the human woman demanded angrily. “What did you just cast on us, Templar?” The fire of hatred was deep in her eyes, and the weight of her maul was nearly crushing. “I swear on the sands, I will crush your hands and leave you to fend for yourself in the desert, mage!”
