Darkstalker vs Darkvision

First Post
My Big question is: can a player with the feat Darkstalker (Lords of Madness) use the skills Hide and Move silent, to remain undetected by a character with with Dark Vision? The question is relevant because Darkvision normally allows a character to see in total darkness in black and white.

The problem is that the original feat description does not mention darkvision. In the original description is sais that a user that is Hiding or Moving silent can remain undetectable from Blindsence, Blindsight, Scent or Tremorsense. Some people think it is reasonable to assume that if you can't use blindsight, neither can you use darksight.

But the fact this is topic isn't discussed elsewhere concerns me, either I'm missing something here, or it is overlooked error in it's description.

A literal reading of the feat means that the benefits do not apply to Darkvision.
Which kinda makes sense, as it doesn't remove the requirement for some cover or concealment to hide, and if you're just using shadowy illumination / darkness to justify the hide check, then you have no concealment/cover vs. someone with Darkvision.

What if you combined Darkstalker with Hide in Plain sight (which is meantioned by the feat)?

Since a player trying to hide in shadow while beeing watched by character with darkvision is effectivly trying to hide in plain sight, which is allowed by the shadows dancer starting feat B-)

Darkvision negates any concealment provided by darkness (non magical) - hence any benefits that would normally be given do not apply.

PHB pg 152

Ignoring Concealment: Concealment isn’t always effective. For
instance, a shadowy area or darkness doesn’t provide any concealment
against an opponent with darkvision.

Concealment and Hide Checks: You can use concealment to
make a Hide check. Without concealment, you usually need cover
to make a Hide check.

Lots of things provide concealment without cover. A bush, a fog bank, a convenient movie-style curtain (with toes sticking out from underneath it, natural), invisibility, blur (yes, stand in the middle of an empty room, cast blur, and you can hide), etc.

Edit re blur hypo: You still need to do it while someone is not directly observing you. Hide before they come in the room, or bluff as a momentary distraction to hide within your blur.

But if you also posses the "Hide in plain sight" feat, you could actualy hide from darkvision correct? :p
