Only 39??? Hee hee I ended up with 57 BEFORE using Off Hand Parry and a +5 Defender in my off hand ;) And that was using the legal ruling on Dastana and Cha-Hariana. Though the only drawback is that the Dastana do take up your Bracer slot for items.

It sounds like this FAQ is making up new rules. You get the base
AC adjustment, but not the enchanment? You can double up the extra protections, but not the enchancements?

This isn't the best way to crank your AC to high levels, unless you can't afford the armor enhancement. If anything, this just breaks the continuity of AC between levels even more than it is now.

You can't double up the protections though... the higher one superceeds the lower. So you could have a +10 fire resistance on one piece and +5 fire resistance on another piece, but you're only gonna +10 total because the +10 is higher. Their good for mulitple abilities of different types, but putting the same types of protections on is a waste of money.

That is exactly the point. You only raise the + on one item, the others you get the "extras" which mean you can easily top the +10 equivelant. Remember, no plus ever exceeds 5 on a permanent non-epic item.

While you could easily go over the +10 like you said, at that point the problem then becomes having the resources for it. I was able to get away with it because 1. We were in a campaign where it was extremes so we ended up with alot of cash to counter-balance the horrendously powerful encounters and 2. We'd gone into Epic by that point. In the campaign we're in now which is alot more realistic to the monatary balance that was set in the books the likelyhood of any one of us doing that again is really 'nill... especially if we keep dying like we are.

You have +15 worth of "enhancements" you want on your armor. Now, which is cheaper: +7 shield, +8 armor or +5 shield, +5 armor, and +6 dastana. Negating the base cost of the items (inconsequential or repeated) that is 49+64 vs 25+25+36 or 113 vs 86. The more items you have to split the enchantments on, the better they are cost wise.
