Still shaken from the death of the guard, Morvannon looks up at the sound of the dogs and attempts to hide himself behind one of the large shrubberies before they arrive. However, he stumbles over the edge of the walkway and barely catches himself before falling.

Magnus cocked his head and listened again at the sound of the coming hounds.

Sounds...like a lot...

Shuffling through the gate he looked around trying to get a look at the oncoming pack, readying himself once more for their arrival.

Vixo looks around nervously. "Are we just going to wait here while dogs and then the town watch come down on us? This didn't go well and I suggest we remove ourselves!"

He hides on the outside wall side of the gate.
 

Round 3

The party make their various preparations for the coming battle, which arrives on them quickly.

A pack of hounds -- well, canines, at least -- crests a low rise and rushes towards you. The pack is evenly divided between two kinds of beast. Half of them look like common gray wolves, sleek and deadly. The others are scraggly, pocked-marked beasts with oversized jaws and a queer, coughing bark; not nearly so pretty, but just as eager in the chase. Behind the pack comes a dwarf in armor, riding on an enormous dire wolf. He points with his heavy hammer, urging the pack onward. Finally, running well behind the pack is another dwarf with an oversized crossbow.

Magnus catches the first three beasts in a burst of magic; a wolf and a hyena slow abruptly, and a second hyena has to slow to veer around the conjured shadows, but a second wolf plunges through them unabated, charging towards Vrrsk't. Its pace is matched by two of its fellows, and the three converge on the paladin, standing valiantly in the middle of the road, shield set in defense. Vrrsk't repels two of the attacks, but the third sneaks through his guard, opening a painful gash on his hamstring.

The dwarf on the dire wolf urges his mount forward, stopping short of Vrrsk't, surveying the battlefield. The dwarf on foot stops and carefully aims a long shot at Magnus. Despite the distance, the bolt slams into Magnus, tearing a chunk of flesh from his hip.

Vrrsk't moves ahead and goes total defense.

Magnus moves forward and readies a spell.

Vixo hides: stealth 29.

The bad guys appear from the south and move in on Vrrsk't.

Magnus' spell fires. Hits Wolf 1 and Hyena 3, misses Wolf 2. 4 damage.

The rest of the hounds are spread out enough to avoid the shadows. They swerve around them, and only three of them are close enough to reach Vrrsk't with charges, two wolves and a hyena. The wolves gets there first (it matters, due to their abilities). Wolf 3 misses with a natural 1. Wolf 2 hits with 24 vs. AC for 8 damage. Hyena 1 misses with 15 vs. AC.

The bolter takes a shot from long range at Magnus: 21 vs. AC hits for 10 damage.

Morvannon watches in growing horror as the new threat approaches. Oh gods, please see me through this... he thinks as he moves out to face the foes. The familiar sight of green symbols cover the nearest hyena, then a curious gesture from his left hand sends a sheet of flame roaring over the three canines menacing Vrrsk't. The wolves emerge unharmed, but the hyena yelps in pain.

Grakk scans the battle scene, picks out a target, then charges foward with weapon drawn to assist Vrrsk't. He hits the wolf to the left of Vrrsk't. The yelp of pain of the wolf fuels the fire of fury within grakk's veins.

Move...move aside..., Magnus yelled at Vrrsk't, shuffling toward the line of battle, while tugging at the bolt in his hip with a manic expression on his face. With the other hand he raised his twisted staff high and he joined the melee he brought it down in hard to the earth, the keys jangled and the sound echoed in strange ways and grew where it should have faded washing over everything to the fore of him with concussive force.

It would be real handy if Vrrsk't shifted/moved out of P10 due the pushing rules and square counts, but if that's not possible assume that Magnus goes to P12 instead and still tries to push as many baddies as possible into the grasping shadows.
