DC/VA/MD ENW Gameday [Cleveland Park, October 27 @ 9:30]

Hey all, another Woodbridger tossing in his support for a DC-metro area gameday. I don't have a long history of live gaming (mostly online, because I have few PnP gamer friends) but I'd love to have the opportunity to play with some of the ENWorlders.

Currently I'm down at William & Mary for studies, so I won't be able to provide too much ground support, but I can help out in other ways I'm sure.

Any ideas on a more solid date yet?

In another thread, I said I'd be interested in helping out (and I am!), but I'm moving to Connecticut in 2 weeks . . . Good luck with it all! Sorry for bailing.

Any further word on this?

I have to miss TerpCon, but I'd love to run a Savage Worlds game for the EN World crowd.
I'm actively working on finding a place that will host for a reasonable amount of money that is accessible to a significant amount of people. :)

As soon as I have more info, I will let y'all know - I promise!

((I should have a more substantial update tomorrow, actually!))

lodging

Torin and I are willing to provide a place to crash for anyone that needs it. We have a few extra beds, couches, sleeping bags, etc. We're a bit closer to Baltimore than DC, but DC isn't a terrible drive from here.

I can look into renting a space in Ellicott City, MD. It has two smaller rooms that could hold up to 40 each and a larger room that would hold up to 165 (with tables) plus a commercial kitchen. There's even primitive camping and a lodge that sleeps up to 20 on site.

I've had a few friends with experiences trying to get space and they've indicated the DC area runs into $$$. Has anyone checked to see where the majority of the folks interested in attending are from?

Seminar Space

I did a search on Wizards.com for stores with Organized Play sites and found a few places:

I don't know about referring to the event as a pagan event, but here's one in Laurel, MD.

The Crystal Fox
"Interested in running a seminar or having The Crystal Fox host an event?

The Crystal Fox has an excellent seminar space and has hosted a wide variety of workshops, book signings and events of interest to the local pagan community at the store. For more information about the space or to discuss an event contact Sterling on 301 317-1980."

No offense, but I checked through the locations of people that posted, and there are more people that are either north or north east of DC than south of DC. So, the Woodbridge area wouldn't seem to make sense. I think Laurel might be a good compromise or maybe something in the Bowie area?

Also, I could help with shuttling people between metro stops and the final location.

Anyone have a spouse/teenager/friend that would be willing to set up babysitting? I've got 4 kids and Torin and I would both be interested in attending, but would have to figure out what to do with the munchkins. Although our oldest (age 11) would love to play if permitted.

Do we really want an "Wizards Organized Play" site for the gameday? I'd much rather not have the gameday associated with WotC. It's a much more informal get together of friends.
