DCC 35 setting should now be available!

Amazon had it listed for presale but surprise, surprise, it's really not available through them.
At the moment I'm working under the assumption that Amazon is just slow in getting their copies in stock.

Amazon sent me an e-mail stating they expect to ship it to me around October 26th. I've ordered DCCs from Amazon in the past, so I know they've been able to acquire previous titles in the line. Further, I haven't heard anything about Goodman Games intentionally withholding it for sale from Amazon.

I'm looking forward to it, but I really want to see a print copy of it first so that I can be sure the background design doesn't affect readability. (If it does, then I'll get the .pdf so I can print out the low-ink version without background images)

I'm glad some of you know what you don't want, but I believe this is for those who do want it.

Yeah, it is "another" setting, but it resonates heavily with Mystare and even some GH tones, and so if you like those settings there is a strong chance you will like this one. Plus I like the fact that it has kingdoms of "snake peoples".

Yeah, I don't really need another setting, but it does have a Mystara-ish vibe (well, early Known Worlds-ish), which I just couldn't resist.

Full price was a little too much, but hopefully Amazon.com comes through.

The artwork was a nostalgia jolt for me, but I just couldn't bring myself to order this. I'm not sure it would give me anything than the other half a dozen settings that I have but never played give me. I've long felt the need for settings has been a bit oversaturated... I guess now my feeling has solidified enough that I am reluctant to part with any more cash.

I too have more settings than I need. Heck I haven't even read the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting book that I bought a couple of years ago! At the same time I am always interested when a new one comes out. Both this and the Warlords of the Accordlands settings have drawn some interest from me. Neither have got a sale yet but there is still a good chance that they will eventually.

I'm a huge fan of the DCC modules and of the Known Realms setting. I'm about half way through with the Gazateer and I've read about 1/4 of the GM's Guide. So far, I have been really impressed with the way they caught the old Greyhawk/Mystara feel and wove the two together. While I was a fan of Greyhawk way back in the day, it sort of lost its appeal over the years. The same can be said for Mystara. The Known Realms feels like it breathes some new life back into those old settings. At least to me it does.

Sure there are alot of settings out there and if you have a setting that you are happy with then this might not be for you. However, if you like the DCC modules, are looking for a standard D&D world, this might be for you. The entries for each country are just enough to get your creative juices flowing without getting in your way. "Just" enough information is given and the rest is left up to you for development.

I've seen alot of threads lately about "Core Only" games and that is just what I'm doing with it. Running some of the DCC's as an adventure path using only the core rules and the very few ruels that are presented in the GM's Guide to the Known Realms.

Between getting two poster maps, two top notch adventures and two poster maps, I feel like the boxed set is well worth the price.

Could someone tell me what they like about the setting, and what sets it apart from others?

I know almost nothing about it, so anything's good to know at this stage.

This is a definite must to add to my collection. I've also got to add some of their more recent DDC's to my collection. Good stuff!

Goodman has a whole bunch of sections available for preview on their site. They will tell you what you need to know.
