Deadlands reloaded is out...

Yeah, I can't wait to lay hands on my personal copies of this book. Soon now..soon. I haven't tried Savage Worlds yet, but I'm somewhat intrigued.

I really wish they'd have done DLR using the Classic rules though. I loved those rules (slow combats and all).

humanity developed. I also always REALLY liked they didn't stat out the major NPCs of the setting (Stone, Raven, Hellstromm, Grimm, etc)- if you stat it, the PCs will try to kill it.

In my old Classic game, when I ran the party through the Devil's Tower Trilogy and used the "quick stats" given for Stone, they took him down hard, partially because I couldn't do anything but roll 1s & draw black jokers that night. It was sad.

Me: "Uh, yeah, Stone is this super bad Harrowed that you can't beat."

Them: "Then why did we beat him in two rounds."

Me: SHADDUP.

So, here's a thread since I'm really looking forward to getting this one. Anyone else?
Excellent. I am interesting in playing a western rpg among many other games, and I thought Savage Worlds would be the way to go. As soon as it reaches my LGS, I will buy it. Thanks.

Well crud, I read some more of Deadlands Reloaded, and I found one thing I strongly dislike- they statted out the major NPCs of the setting.

Stats are easy for the Marshall to remove. You can tell the players that you did this. Or not. :)

That looks good...my only exposure to Deadlands has been Deadlands D20, which was decidedly not-good, but it really got me interested in the setting. I've heard that Deadlands Reloaded has some rules add-ons that would be very useful for running IK with Savage Worlds, now that it's out I may just pick 'em both up.

Yeah, I cant see myself picking this up... the old rules ran wonderfully and captured the feel of the setting. I ran deadlands combats faster than d20 combats. The card system for initiative worked GREAT, you never had to keep track of initiative. The only thing I felt it needed was a non random way to generate stats.

What are the Savage Worlds rules like? I love Deadlands but I didn't hear good things about the d20 version, so....

From what I understand (and I'm not very knowledgeable about SW), it's based off of the Great Rail Wars rules, which are in turn based off of the Deadlands Classic rules. So I think it would be tolerable.

And the d20 version was...bad. That's all I can muster to say about it without invoking the ire of Eric's Grandma. It was bad enough that it was pretty close to the end of Pinnacle from what I understand (in fact, a lot of stores think they DID go out of business..the fact that they changed their name to Great White Games probably didn't help).
