Death from natural causes?

When you reach you maximum age, you die. But when during the year do you die? Do you make incresingly harder Fort saves until your body gives up? Are you dead forever? Can you be brought back with ressurection? How long before you die again?

According to the spell descriptions, Raise Dead, Resurrection, and True Resurrection can't bring back people who have died from old age. The only way is through the Reincarnate spell, which creates an entirely new body for the person's soul.

It's better to burn out, then fade away...

What about a carefully worded wish? If someone wishes you back, do you never die from natural causes again? Looks like aging is a good way to keep NPC's down for the count. Just as long as they are human!

Unless they're wizards, Sorcerors, or perhaps Clerics. Merlin was old and crusty when Aurther (I know I mispelled that) was born.

And Merlin was also a 'demon' according to some, or aging 'backwards' (ie getting younger), etc. In fact what was up with that craggy old dodger anyway? I think he cheatin'... :)

If you die from magical aging, its not really natural causes, its unnatural. You could probably wish they weren't aged and then raise them.

Normally, however, when your time runs out you die and can't come back. Thats why all those wacky Wizards want to be Liches.

Hmm, I wonder if liches accrue mental ability score bonuses as they age.

You'd think so. Some people play it as they do, other that they don't. Personally I lean towards them getting them, after all high level druids (and other "ageless" characters) do, so why wouldn't truely ageless ones?

Of course liches don't really need to be much tougher, but it makes the ancient liches a bit scarier than the "new" liches.
