Deathknell Gallery up

Merric, you are one lucky bastard. I didn't do so bad, either: First Rare to pull was Large Blue Dragon. That shop, Draglonlord Games, is very aptly named. From the Boosters I bought there I got: Huge Gold Dragon, Brass Dragon, Large Blue Dragon

I actually don't like the looks of the blue dragon in this set; I guess I'm in the minority.

You're guessing right. The mini rocks. And it looks even better when you see it IRL, not just on a photo. The colouring doesn't get its due on the pictures!

So far, I have bought 4 boosters plus a single Dire Bear, and I got Large Blue Dragon, Valorous Prince, Fiendish Monstrous Scorpion and Warpriest of Hextor. I got the Dire Bear and the Skullcrusher Ogre, and all Commons. No triple so far.
I might buy another booster tomorrow, but that depends on whether my FLGS of choice still hasn't got its delivery. If it does, I skip this booster and go directly for my two cases I have ordered there (and while all the other shops got their stuff already, they haven't received theirs yet. And since today was a national holiday here, they couldn't get it today, either. I hope that they get a saturday delivery despite the Easter Madness).

AFAIK, all the cases are now perfect distribution, that is

3-4 of all commons,
1-2 of all uncommons
No duplicate rares in the 12 packs.

I was glancing at this yesterday late, and all I can say is, WotC lost my buck this time. The set looks mostly OK, but there is next to nothing there for a simple player. I know, this set was called Deathknell, and all the collections have been about getting bigger and badder nasties out in the marketplace, but couldn't they do one nice, simple, cheap collection of PCs? Male and female, cover the races and classes? Tall and short categories at least? And maybe at least one light fighter that can cover many bases?

And no more bloody Monks!

And so many evil NPCs and monsters and such out there, you'd think these minis were designed for wargaming. Pfthhh.

Well I just opened my first case. I got all the commons and uncommons and 12 of the 24 rares.

The beholder rocks, the blue and white dragon are also really cool.

So now I need to decide on whether to get another case (about $92) to get the other rares and dupes of the rest or just get the rares I neeed (which on ebay the 12 I need add up to about $90).

Did I mention the the Beholder rocks ? :D

Scary, huh?

And one was in the first two packs I bought randomly...

Cheers!

There must be scores of people out there buying boxes of minis and then flogging them off as singles. Must make a fortune!

I haven't bought any of this set yet, but my plan is to buy 1 1/2 cases, then trade or ebay the remaining rares that I need. I've found that waiting until just before a new set is released you can pick up the single rares for pretty cheap (most around $7-9) on ebay. Of course, that assumes you can hold out that long for the last 3 or 4 that you need. :)

I might have plasticrack withdrawal by then. A few of the new ones are going for $5-8 right now. It is the other 8 going for $8-12 at the moment the concerns me.

What is really weird is I got the rares that I really wanted (minus gold dragon) and the rest I just need to complete the set. I am kinda feeling lucky at the moment.

I picked up a couple boosters yesterday.

Highlights: skullcrusher ogre, 2 dragonblade ninjas, 2 deathlocks (cool runes!), wood woad, soldier of thrane.

Lowlights: both my rares were ettins (ugh!), kruthiks (garbage), flind captain (looks weird, IMO).

I tried weighing the packs in my hands but I only ended up with ettins; not something I need.

I'll be happy to trade you for the Ettins... :)

Wow, talk about opposite ends of the miniature spectrum.

A lot of the figures are either of the 'yuk' or 'awesome' calibre. Not much looks to be in between.

Ugh. I have to agree. The sculpts had been getting better and better, this set seems to be in retrograde.

I like the dwarves, though. :D
