[Dec] What are you playing?

First Post
Seeing as it is officially December I thought it would be appropriate to start this thread for this month!

As for myself, I have been taking a break for a while from these and immersing myself in other things (mostly books on tape).

Lots of MoO2 and Civ II: ToT. I am getting better at MoO II, finding myself beind able to play on hard mode, the only race I can't stand as an opponent is the Silicoids.

I am contemplating starting up a game of Diablo over the weekend.

An on-going (or is that never ending?) Diablo II game on the PC. This time with an Amazon specializing with the spear.

Last weekend (although it was November) I played "Robo-Rally" (Avalon Hill) and "Descent" (FFG). Kinda went clunky as no one had read the rules before. I liked both of them and may pick up Robo-Rally for me and my son. Also tried out the Wii and had a stiff shoulder from hammer-throwing cows.

Trying these boardgames out made me curious so I read about more boardgames. I think I'll be picking up "Ticket to Ride" for the kids this year for Yule. I'm also going to look into "Runebound" and "Battlelore" - both looked very interesting and don't come with the big time committment of a RPG game.

Stealing my thunder, eh?

Except this sounds like me most of the time anyway, except this time I've actually been playing something.

I finished up Majora's Mask this week after notplaying for a while because a persistent cold made it bothersome. Not sure what I'll move onto next, likely one of the billion games I haven't finished yet (HL2, KotOR, Metroid Prime, Four Swords Adventure). Of course that will probably all get pushed off to the side once I get Twilight Princess.

Ah, good ol' MoO2. I spent many, many sleepless nights playing that game years ago. I would start a game in the evening and not finish until the wee hours of the morning, after I had all planets conquered (all but one, lonesome little toxic planet for an enemy to live on so the game wouldn't end), terraformed to Gaia (except toxic planets, of course), fully equipped with all buildings, fully populated to maximum population, and every system had at least 9 Doom Stars guarding it. And when I say "all planets", I'm talking about the asteroids and gas giants too. I was a sick puppy.

Of course, I would apply the same principle to all the Civ games. Still do it, too. I convinced my manager to let me install CivIII on the computer here at work, and when I'm not surfing ENworld I'm usually conquering the known world.

Good times.

As for me, currently I'm flipping back and forth between Call of Duty 3 and Gears of War. Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 is next on my to-buy list, followed by Splinter Cell: Double Agent. And hopefully, I'll be getting a Wii for Christmas, but that depends on how fast Nintendo ships them out.

Apologies for being insensitive and unthinking my good sir. :(

Just saw someone post in the November thread yesterday and thought to myself ... "Hey! Isn't it ...."

Anyhoo. :)

Starting to fiddle around with the NWN2 toolset (although the game is clearly not ready for DMed games yet).

Two NWN1 campaigns still ongoing, with weekly sessions.

Occasional Company of Heroes skirmish.

XBox360: NBA2k7, College Football 07, Burnout Revenge (just finished Gears of War SP, and I'm going to let it sit for a while before tackling it in Hardcore mode).

Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum (PC)

Planning to return to:

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (360)
SimCity 4 (PC)
Dead Rising (360)

  • City of Heroes, Issue 8. (Now EVERYBODY has wings...)
  • Civilization IV (if only I grokked IV as well as I did I & II then I could win on something higher than Prince without resorting to complete world conquest.)
  • Half Life (source) (Had an itch that had to be scratched.)
  • Sid Meier's Railroads! (looks nice - but then it feels like it's too glossed-over. I dislike not being able to just get a decent schematic of my enitre system at a glance.)
  • Pirates!
