Deepwood Sniper "Keen Edge"

Dr. Zoom

First Post
The Deepwood Sniper PrC in MotW lists the Keen Edge spell as one of its 6th level benefits, but it does not have any text describing it further. It does not seem to fit the class because of the Keen Arrows ability already gained at 1st level. I am thinking it is a misprint of some sort. Anyone know?

Thanks.

Yes, it is a great class. A friend of mine has a Ftr2/Rgr2/Rog3 who focuses on archery and would like to become a Deepwood Sniper or Arcane Archer (or a little of both). He asked me why Keen Edge has nothing written on it, and I told him I thought it was probably a misprint, but I would ask on ENWorld.

I was thinking about taking it for my Ranger who is a pretty good archer, but the only thing that kept me from doing it is the loss of Ranger spells.

I would not want to give up the spells, either. The ranger's spellcasting is underrated, IMO. Of course, my friend's character is done with ranger levels, so it is a great choice for him.

Okay, that's two people (me and you) who seem to think this. Ranger's spellcasting is almost ignored in print products. MotW has no Ranger oriented classes that continue spell progression. There are some classes in there that a Ranger can eventtually qualify for to that get full spell progression, but most of the classes have new spell lists and new spell progressions.

Path of the Sword (a book designed for Barbarians, Fighter, Monks, and Rangers), which is a great book, has nothing on the spell abilities of Rangers.

MAny books of spelkls like R&R, Spells and Spellcraft, etc do have new Ranger spells, but aside from that I really haven't seen anything on it.

Nor have I, unfortunately. I liked MotW, including the ranger stuff, but I was disappointed that there was not more there with respect to spellcasting.

Hopefull with Mongoose doing the Quint Ranger at some point, and Sword and Sorcery coming out with class books for the Scarred Lands, some one will cover this.

I don't have any of the Quintessential books, but I would buy the Q. Ranger. Maybe Badaxe will do some class material in the future. They look promising. Maybe we should do our own and submit it to Dragon? :D
