Just make sure that when the archer busts out the 80-point crit, you know how to handle it....

Well the character will be 15th level so it shouldn't be an issue.

Olaf, because he will be 19-20 X5 on crits at that point.

I would just remove the Concealment reduction ability and give the class Improved Precise Shot at whatever level a character would normally get it. A character can normally get it at 11th level, so put it at 6th level of Deepwood Sniper.

Yeah. IME, single attacks that deal tremendous damage have a way of getting everyone's attention, even if it's not necessarily out of line for that level. 4 attacks for 25 damage can pass by without notice, but 1 hit for 80 points really grabs the spotlight.

So are you saying 80 points damage from one arrow may cause the group (or some players in the group) to think that the player has a broken PrC and that may cause trouble?

Or are you talking about it from a DM'ing perspective and me being prepared for the occasion where the archer takes the BBEG in a couple of hits before the melee guys have even made it into melee range?

Or something else again? Were you anticipating a thread from me entitled "Help! My Archer Is Dominating The Game Again?" :)

It is rather funny when the archer pulls off something amasing. A while back We were fighting a hydra and some bulits i think the party was ecl 9 or 10 at the time. I roled a nat 20 confirmed with a nat 20 and then got the thrid 20 for the trip crit. I don't know if it was just a house rull or an actual rule but that one shot killed the hydra. witch was good for the party was dead. i think it was a 12 head fire hydra or somthing. every one was stuned for like 5 miniuts.

Just a heads up, that's all. ;) I played a similar class in my last high-level game and boy, the first time I made an 80 point hit, you could hear the jaws dropping around the table.

Of course, I've been playing a swordsage dealing 100-point hits in my current game, so I guess I never learn....

At what level was your character making these 80 point hits?
