Actually, it works out great. They're defenders, so drawing attacks means they're doing their job. Also, their AC is generally exceptionally high - so lots of those attacks should be wasted.

I've been toying with an idea similar to this for LFR games except using an Avenger instead of the Swordmage (which is my current character). Most likely an Elven Pursuing Avenger.

17 (19) Wisdom
15 (17) Dexterity
Weapon: Great Axe.
First level feat: Leather Armor.
Second level feat: Toughness
Next: Improved Armor of Faith.

I'm thinking this would be a pretty versatile build.
a. Defense to attack back lines when second striker.
b. Defense to alleviate defender reliance when with a bunch of squishies (lots of wizards in the area)
c. Enough damage when the primary striker.
d. Can take advantage of magic armor as well as teh weapons and gadgets that are more random than it set campaings.

Thoughts?

For LFR? It'll work fine.

Actually, I've been playing one. 10 games in 10 days and she's already 6th level!

Even playing high tier, it's been no problem (though when I do miss, I really do feel somewhat incredulous, even knowing that I still have a 20-25% chance of missing).

I did run out of healing surges the one table where we had no Defender (warlord, cleric, ranger, avenger), but didn't fall unconscious.

The character is a young 15 year old farm girl. She saw her family slaughtered by demons in Impiltur and swore an oath to Tempus to avenge them. He heard and granted her a "possessed" weapon.

Human Fullblade wielding little girl

No, I didn't take the Tempus channel divinity feat. I feel dirty enough wielding a +2 vicious fullblade. I'll wait until it gets nerfed, and then take it.

Started with 18 Wis, 16 Int and haven't had a problem yet. Having 3 at-wills to choose from has been really helpful.

Feats: (human) leather armor, (1) Fullblade proficiency, (2) Melee training, (4) Weapon Expertise, (6) armor of faith

I'm contemplating taking Cleric MC so I can eventually go Radiant Servant (just for the crit on a 19-20 with radiant attacks). \

Then again, MC for the fighter feat that allows a free OA when an adjacent enemy shifts or attacks someone else is pretty nice as well. Not to mention the pit fighter paragon path (+1 untyped bonus to AC, +Wis to ALL melee attack damage). The class features by themselves are good enough reason to take that PrC.

Will eventually take hide armor at Paragon level.

My favorite strategy so far is to light up with Avenging Echoes and run through the bad guys, provoking OAs. They take 8 points of radiant damage each (whether they hit or miss) and I get a huge bonus to damage against my oath target.

But yeah, in most of my tables so far I've had the highest or second-highest AC and the best defenses.

I have to say, that is an uber-badass character concept. Mind if I gank it?
