Defenders of Daybreak - campaign questions

Sorry for the small tease, it's late. I'll try to be more constructive (with some questions for PCat, mostly):

- How hard was it to convert fairly high-level characters over to 3e?

- How did Spirea come about? Was it a small region that grew into a something larger, or did you start out with a large-scale concept?

- How much longer do you see this campaign going on? (Any idea?)

Thanks in advance!

The problem with the long version is that it's really a long version. It's the "tell the story over four or five beers" sort of story,

This is obviously a typo. What he meant to say was "tell the story over four or five years.

TPK? Good question. I'll have to think about it! Probably the githyanki battle in the astral, although the whole group being buried up to their necks in sand comes in as a close finisher.

Yeah, he could have TPK'd us the time he chose to bury us up to the neck--he successfully immobilized and knocked unconcious the entire party. Fortunately, his plan in this case was not to kill us immediately, but rather to give the villain a chance to gloat while we died slowly in a horrible death trap, which gave us plenty of time to escape. 10 minutes, at least.

Glimmer was a priest of Alianna, Goddess of Beauty, love, lust and seduction. Temple partys were frequent and hedonistic.

I seem to remember a phrase something like "went back to his temple for the annual orgy".

I would go so far as to say that this has inspired me to play a "paladin of love" in an upcoming campaign.

[There's a special exemption to the paladin alignment rules in the Forgotten Realms. Sune, the CG goddess of love/beauty/passion etc, can have paladins. They defend beautiful things, rescue artworks from dungeons, help people on quests for their long lost loves and stuff like that. I wonder what Sir Malachite would make of this...]

Most of the difficulty came in the fact that we were playtesting at the time, and the rules kept changing. I think Kiri redid her skill points six times... In addition, we had some problems converting fighter/mages who didn't want to lose spell levels or fighting power. That was probably the toughest.

I started in a single town. then I grew the country around that, and grew the map outwards slowly. I stink at creating over-arching maps from day 1.

I always say about a year. I've been saying that for 2 years now. :D

Seriously, I expect that there will be another couple of adventures after the White Kingdom. Agar's engagement, the supposedly missing prince of Gaunt, possibilities like that; but there will be a definitive stopping place as most people approach 20th level, and we'll probably find a good place to end. I don't have it mapped out yet, though.

This has always been a problem for me - I want to start with the world view, but it's just too dang easy to get bogged down and stall.

Heh, heh - Agar's engagement. I must say I have some interest in that one :)
Thanks again - that's pretty much exactly the kind of answer I was looking for.

Eversink?

P'Cat, I was wondering if I can get some demographic information about Eversink. I'm using the city on my world and would like to keep the same sort of feeling as you described it in your story hour.

I'm going through some of the PC1.rtf document to glean important information but hope you are willing to post some details about the city's background and history - if not here then in the thread your players have to stay out of.

Basically, I'm looking for these things, as per the DMG.

Community Wealth and Population
Power Center(s)
Authorities
Key NPCs
Racial Demographics

Plus, I'm real interested in learning more about the power structure of the different Houses listed in PC1.rtf (which I'm looking at right now).

Of course, my Eversink will be different in many ways. It's going to be located on an open sea coast but does sit on islands and swampland on both sides of the river I've placed it at the end of.

Any help/infromation you're willing to share would be appreciated.

Cheers!
