My idea was a Cleric who whould summon Celistial (or Fiendish if you swing that way) beings (like a Celistial Hawk) to fight evil. Maybe someday

Ummm... unless I'm missing something, you realize you can do that anyway with a normal cleric using the Summon Monster spells, right?

Yes, but the summon domain just makes it all that better. Plus you can use your domain slot for even more summon spells. I just really want to play a 'summoner' type charecter, and a Cleric with the Summon domain would be nice

Where in Dieties & Demigods does it make recommendations as to which prestige domains could be treated as normal domains?

In the list of domains it just has some prestige domains writen as reguliar domains. pg 213, I see Glory and Maddness there, not sure what others were prestige domains first though.
