Defensive Strike question... OA.

Does Defensive Strike allow you to make a -- FULL -- attack with the +4 bonus against someone who doesn't hit you or is it just a single attack? Does this apply to ranged combat?

I was thinking Tumble 15 ranks = +8 dodge bonus (using total def).... Add in Superior expertise and go total defense for one round, then open up on your opponent the next with the +4 bonus... (probably only worth it though if that +4 applies to all my attacks though).

DEFENSIVE STRIKE: [General]

You can turn a strong defense into a powerful offense. This feat is called musubi in Rokugan.

PREREQUISITE: Int 13+, Expertise, Dex 13+, Dodge.

BENEFIT: If an opponent attacks you and misses while you are using the total defense action, you can attack that opponent on your next turn with a +4 bonus on your attack roll. You gain no bonus against an opponent that does not attack you or against an opponent that attacks and does not miss.

Well... ranged attacks: No. It does not say this, but please....

Yes, I would say all attacks.

Second. That tumble 15 ranks results in a +8 to dodge.... is new to me. Is this really in OA or Rokugan?

It's in OA, and it only applies when you're taking the total defense action. It's just a powering-up of the +2 to total defense that you get from 5 ranks of tumble.

Thx for the responses.... I also thought that the +4 to attack should apply to multiple attacks, but I was wondering if anyone could provide a more rules oriented response. My current DM tends to be quite conservative in his interpretations so unless I can convince him otherwise..................

So far all I have for "rules / reasoning" is that Defensive strike says.

"you can attack that opponent on your next turn with a +4 bonus on your attack roll"

Definition of attack PHB:

Attack: Any of numerous actions intended to harm, disable, or neutralize an opponent. The result of an attack is determined by an attack roll.
