Deities & Demigods continued

Upper Krust, don`t you think that 20 outsider hit dice for most Deities makes sense even if you follow your distinction between Spirit and Soul Deities? Even if we consider let`s say Heironeus a Soul Deity, whose Divine Power originates mostly from worship, he propably spent a very long time in his realm in Mount Celestia, so he was propably infused with Planar Energy long enough to develop 20 Outsider Hit Dice.
There are not many gods in D&Dg who are not Outsiders: Bahamut, Tiamat, Apep (Dragons), Vecna (Undead). Hercules and Imhotep are Outsiders but don't have any Outsider HD.

I think the real question is: What happens to a newly-ascended god? My first idea was that when they became gods, they also became Outsider, and before being able to advance in any new class, they had to advance as Outsiders, and as soon as they had 20HD as Outsiders, they were able to advance in a new class (or a class to which they belonged before ascending). And then I realized that this would really suck for spellcaster...:(

I was wondering if the solars (in MM) was used as a base template for the gods. IMC I use stats for powerful solars as gods with a few ranks of divinity.

Well I finally got it last night. Though it does have some useful ideas and discussion, it does appear to be as I had feared: if you aren't into warring with the gods, you won't use half the book.
