Deployed Military D&D Game Day! (needs you!)

(Registered after being linked to this thread in Fark. Yay?)

I'm in Camp Arifjan, and a few other guys and I in our battalion get together weekly for a game of Dragonstar. I'll ask the DM if we can get down on this, too.

Kant, are you a TF'er? I sent the link in a little while ago, but I don't see it on the front page...

militarygameday.com

The website is live, although there isn't anything there except some text that reads
Military Game Day 2008.
I do have the power to set up email addresses if you want,
I have test@militarygameday.com set up currently, so you can mail me there and I can set up an account.
I probably won't be able to get to too much design work until Saturday, but if you write up a quick blurb or any information you want on the front page I can have that done ASAP.

Welcome to everyone that is finding this thread. As long as you can get APO mail, I will be able to get you a scenario kit to participate! Please continue to spread the word and expect more details as we build up the website.

Xfer83: THANKS!
I'll try to type up something Friday for you... for now you can pirate the gist of my OP.
Email addresses would be great... I'll email at the 'test' one to set one up. Then we can communicate through that versus thread message.

I am going to visit my FLGS this weekend and see if we can get a drive together to come up with dice, minis, and other gaming essentials in time.

As soon as there is an address to send them to, I hope to have a huge "gamer care" package ready to go.

I might spend some time today or tomorrow trying to design a flyer to promote the drive. However, I am not a graphic designer so if anyone out there is and can help me out I would appreciate it. We should probably make it location free so anyone that wants to could use the same flyer.

Horrible Timing For Me, But-

I'm reporting on reserve IA mobilization orders in a couple of weeks, just in time to miss the 4th Edition Release/Game Day stateside. On top of that, I will have to have all my 4th Edition pre-orders sent to my FPO AE address... I hope they get to me, sometime in late June probably... (FPOs are domestic rate mail even when sent from stateside- although Letter mail takes a week to arrive, and packages about two weeks...)

Reaper Steve, how do I get linked in with the network of deployed in-theatre gamers?

Depending on logistics in Kuwait, I should be checked in with my command in the IZ (Green Zone) in Baghdad prior to June 6th. Do you have any points of contact yet for anyone willing to run/play Game Day in FOB Blackhawk or elsewhere in the IZ? I don't know what kind of rec rooms the Embassy (Former Republican Guard Palace) might have yet, but if anyone else is reading this and can let me know, I'd love to give up that night to either DM or play. (I've already been DMed every 4e official and unofficial preview adventure available- BTW thanks Olgar!) Let me know, Steve, and I'll send you my FPO AE info...

I'm not currently deployed, and I don't expect to be then (wouldn't that be a hoot to find out this late ... not!), but best of luck with the game day, and certainly post any help you require.

For 4E stuff you can use easily ... how about unlimited free copies of a 4E adventure? If we can just get a volunteer to pdf it and add some artwork and the improved maps ...
Desktop publisher for the troops, at your service. I will compile the document into a .PDF file, if it has not been done already. What version of Acrobat should it be compatible with? Do you want to password-protect it? copy-protect it? Add comments?

Adobe 6 (IIRC, anyway -- I'd have to check my computer at work to see what the current DoD standard is, which is typically behind commercial a generation or two), no password protect, no comments to add.

Use Xorn & tovakas' maps. tovakas also volunteered to help and add art, so perhaps there are a few artists who can contribute too. (See the Reloaded thread linked above for the maps, file, etc).
