Describe your NEXT game session!

Tom Cashel

First Post
I'm home with the baby three days a week. Life is good...I've got time to spend with my son, and stacks of D20 Modern books around the computer for creating NPCs while he sleeps. Down side: the next session I'm going to run will be in March of 2005. Painful if you dwell on it. Link in sig's got mo'.

Anyzap, my next session is the season 2 premiere, "Showdown at the God Trap." The PCs will visit an ancient elder thing construct in Antarctica that only barely contains a vast and terrible being from beyond, confront Erik Sturm--the enemy who plagued them all through season 1--in a no-holds-barred battle, and attempt to subdue and capture a small piece of the aforementioned vast terrible being that gets loose inside their TARDIS and starts absorbing human flesh to grow larger. I'm not sure if everyone will survive!

So...whether playing or GMing...what's going on in YOUR next game session?

It'll be the inaugural session of the new Mutants and Masterminds campaign. At least one team member will be newly arrived in the city; the others may or may not be so new. We need a pre-session to determine some more things. A combat will be had, a villain apprehended. Perhaps they will agree to meet and take on a foe that none of them could defeat individually. And then that session or the next, they will be approached by a mysterious figure with a large bankroll who wishes them to be the core of a new superteam for this city which has been without one for almost ten years.

My PCs will go into a cave, get eaten alive by random traps...no bad guys, just traps, fight the bad guy and his pet sea cat, and hopefully restore water to their home city. Somewhere along the line I will inevitably screw up some rules and make things up ad hoc. Not too bad for the third session of their careers.

Hopefully, mine will be the kick off of my Star Wars d20 game. I've never run anything but D&D for nearly 20 years, so this will be interesting.

My players have decided to name their characters by choosing the name of a prescription or over the counter drug as their first name, and an Italian dessert as their last name.

My son will play Aleve Gelato. We also have Pepto Canoli so far.

My players (all in their 30's except my son) need professional help. :)

At the end of last session, the PCs learned that Warforged were being killed in the Cogs, the lowest level of Sharn. The PCs were asked to help and agreed to do so.

Next session they will investigate the murders and try to stop what has been happening. The PCs will be confronted with some not so nice people in positions of influence. Dealings with these people could have future consequences depending on how the PCs proceed.

Well, my next gameday is monday night. I'll be wrapping up my D&D3.5 homebrew campaign. The party is in the deep basement of a wizard's tower, trying to find his stash, the wizard having recently died under suspicious circumstances. They are just about to find the secret door. We left last time with some loud, stone and metal rending sounds from upstairs. The local neighborhood Trollgres (ogres w/ half-trol slapped on them) and their Green Hag leader have come to grab some swag, as word of the wizard's death traveled fast.

After the new year, I'll be kicking of a 1E Greyhawk campaign, and hanging up my 3.5 DM coif, for good, probably.

Has Acitomenophen Tiramisu been taken? It's got a nice ring to it. ;)

Not yet, but that rocks!

Of course, the NPC's and BBEG's won't have these sorts of names. Kinda hard to afraid of Darth Benadryl. One of my players keeps wanting me to create a Sith who leads an "alternative lifestyle" (his words) and name him Darth Fabulous. I have thus far resisted.

My Eberron PCs have spent the last few months (game time and real time) trekking around in the wilderness. Their horses were eaten in the second session, and they abandoned their tents and bedrolls shortly afterward, so they've been travelling on foot and sleeping on the bare ground. They fought bunches of giant spiders, dire rats, and other filthy creatures. A couple of times, they survived by eating the bodies of dead enemies. For a long stretch they were under time pressure, so they did a lot of forced marching. Last session they finally arrived back home very dirty, grumpy, tired, and dirty.

As they've now completed their mission, we now fast-forward a couple of game weeks. They've received orders for another mission, which begins in Sharn on the other side of the continent.

Next session they'll be travelling to Sharn via lightning rail, and their grateful benefactors have sprung for first class tickets. We're talking five-course meals, nightly entertainment, and personal servants. Something unpleasant will happen during the rail trip, giving the PCs the opportunity to play detective if they choose, but they also have the option of ignoring it and spending more time in those cushy featherbeds.

Dang dude. I gotta game with you. If you ever fire up a play by post game, let me know.
