Describe your NEXT game session!

The PCs in my Eberron game are currently on a lightning rail trip and guarding an aristocrat who is on the same train. They're expecting an assassination attempt, but next session they're going to be jumped by a group of mercenaries led by a couple of members of the Order of the Emerald Claw.

Valenar elves firing flaming arrows. Exploding windows. Talenta halflings landing on the roof. Passengers screaming and diving for cover. Hurled boomerangs, daggers and bowls of hot soup. Repartee and exchanged threats while dueling on dinner tables. Having the "locomotive" be taken over and heading for a crash. Battling flying dinosaurs on the carriage tops.

You get the idea :D

Last session, the PCs led an expedition into the mountain fastness of an enemy wizard, one Hecatesseus, maker of all sorts of terrible constructs. Hecatesseus is attempting to revive a lifeless bronze colossus. Should he succeed in this undertaking it would likely turn the course of an entire war. During their assault the PCs were stymied by a cunning illusion of a dragon, then battered by four construct soldiers, and then finally driven back by a swarm of Intelligence-draining, spell-reflecting copper dragonflies.

Now they are holed up in their conjurer’s magnificent mansion, plotting their next assault. They still have to get by the dragonflies, and then they’ll have to face several magical traps, maybe a mummified, spell-stitched swarm-shaping minotaur, an animated laboratory, and then a simulacrum of Hecatesseus himself.

That should make for a pretty full session.

Hmmm... I'm still mulling my options for the new Forgotten Realms campaign I hope to launch in January.

Option #1: (With appologies to Phish) "Down With Disease" - a relaunch of an aborted campaign of a few years back. The PCs must find the cause of a disease that resists healing magic. The story arc culminates with a battle against an aspect of Talona.

Option #2: "Hazy Shade of Winter" (yes, I do seem to name my campaigns after songs) - the PCs find themselves snowbound in a small village in the North... in the middle of summer! The PCs discover that followers of the goddess Auril have found the means to bring a new ice age to the Realms. They must journey to Anaruach and sift through ruins for an ancient temple of Aumantaur(sp?) the sun god to find a weapon capable of staving off said impending ice age.

Option #3: If I'm really lazy  I may just run the Shackled City adventure path from Dungeon magazine.

Last session, the PCs went to Sharn to find a lost brother and they found that he had been turned to stone ina game of Six Stones. This session (entitled "Secrets") promises a fight on a skycoach; intrigue with gnomes; a shopping trip in a most "magical" location and finally, that some secrets are better left alone. (Sorry for the vagueness, but prying eyes and all...)

So...whether playing or GMing...what's going on in YOUR next game session?

Hm. Depends which comes first. It will be one of the following:

1)The culmination of a quest undertaken by a bunch of ragtag neophyte superheroes to save rescue the work and reputation of Nick Fury of SHIELD.

2)The continuing story of a group of magi near Atlanta, Georgia. As far as they are aware, they're responsible (or at least linked to) the extermination of every vampire within the state. They are all currently suffering from amnesia, and cannot remember what's happened to them in the past couple of months...

3)The beginning of an epic journey of six of the most mismatched D&D heroes it's ever been my pleasure to DM for :)

First I can't wait for my group's next session which happens after the first of year... we've been in a holiding pattern for a few months now due to various members getting married, having babies, enjoying vacations in Europe... really stupid stuff :) people who have lost their sense of priority in life...

Well anyhow... we get to continue in my egyptian-flavored game with the PCs about to climb thru an anicent belltower and one of the PCs learns more about his origins well the others will be making a few will, fort and reflex saves along the way... you know - typical game stuff... can't wait...

Playing Saturday, the group has fractured into two seperate groups (never good) and are converging onto the goblin city (never good) where they hope to meet up with Lady Elaydren , get their pay and return to Sharn.

One problem- the last time they visited this city (about two-three weeks prior) they started a riot. They are wanted and being watched for by all goblins, orcs, ogres and hill giants.

They aided an NPC whom gave hints to the larger group where the Lady may be but the other has no idea.

Depending on how that wraps up, we may start Whispers of the Vampire's Blade.

See Creation Schema below
