Fortunately, with the new adventure already sent out for proposal, the wait should be basically zero for anyone who doesn't come on this one :)
Ayep, which is why Weapon isn't chomping at the big to leave; though doing so w/o making him look like an a** could be interesting. :)

I am unable to access my webmail from here, and shouldn't be sending non-work related email out, so if someone could jump over to the character thread and approve my paladin, I'd appreciate it. I've had a serious creative blockage in coming up with background for the character, so I'll likely add to that later, but the mechanics are there and he's otherwise ready to go. I'll be unavailable over the weekend, but if the approval happens today, I can start right away.

Bah, you should have seen my first LEW character, Rinaldo. His background was only 6 line long at first. With time, it xpend, and half is background is still in my head and should be write down. All his family, which he speak a lot about, come from play... don't be surprise to see contradictory information in the first adventure he made, he really took shape during his second and third adventure. Sometimes, a background too long can be too restrictive, even more in a living world that will continue to shape itself (being Eberron and not LEW, it is pretty well shaped at start...)

ooh I'll have to get my Kenku into the tavern then. Didnt know a second adventure was that close to going in. As mentioned in the IC thread, I'll take people who've read/played the adventure before as long as they try to keep player knowledge and character knowledge seperate.

I'll take a look at it tonight, thanks Icycool :)

Just send me an e-mail later.

Either way, you're welcome in the tavern thread.

On a related note, remember, that because Allignments are a little more murky in Eberron, paladins assosiating with evil isn't as big a deal, as long as said person is not actively doing evil while they are in his company. I believe that's a fairly specific example in the book in fact. And if I'm wrong, please do correct me.

I think they have to be not actively working towards evil period for the time of the association, which is fine--you can be quite evil and still participate in non-evil goals (or at least hide the evil ones from the paladin). But it's still okay to be evil.

Yup, and that doesn't potentialy hose the paladin if an evil doer goes on a mission with him.

And, of course, one man's good could be another man's evil :]

I ran accross this in Circvs Maximvs, and wanted to mention it here.

The kitchen sink aspect of things is one of the most misunderstood aspects of Eberron. The quote so often taken out of context is "If it exists in D&D, it has a place in Eberron." Not "it exists in Eberron"... but rather, there's a place for it if you want there to be. More often than not, this is accomplished through one of three things:
  • Xen'drik, the Dark-Continent-Meets-Atlantis. An unexplored continent twisted by magic, it's the perfect place to stick a never-before-seen-civilization-of-whatever-you-want.
  • Khyber, the underdark. Following the pulpy feeling, this again gives you the opportunity for the Vril, the Lost World, Agharta, etc. Derro have no official place in Eberron. I have no plans to use derro in my game. But if I WANTED to, PCs stumbling onto a lost city of Derro in Khyber fits the setting perfectly.
  • The Mourning, the bizarre-magical-cataclysm-that-warped-an-entire-country. Any monster could emerge from this bizarre event.
So, *I* prefer to focus on few races and few monsters and build up the cultures of each. As it stands, Eberron doesn't have wood elves, wild elves, purple elves, etc. It has the Valenar, the Aereni, the Qabalrin, the Gyrderi... all of whom are genetically elves with very different cultures. Want to use wood elves? Make 'em a weird tribe in Xen'drik. But *I'm* not going to use them. Likewise, you like abeil? Make them a culture in Xen'drik that's only just been discovered. Say that the Mourning transformed a human city into an abeil hive and now they're spreading like wildfire. There's a PLACE for abeil in Eberron... but only if you want to take advantage of it.

So, I certainly sympathize with the "I hate everything being crammed into one world" syndrome. But the point is that Eberron makes it easy TO include what you want from any D&D book... not that it's all automatically there by default. Me? I leave a lot of it out!
Hellcow = Keith Baker btw.

So, we'll be examining other WoTC books to bring into the game, but this doesn't mean we'll bring in everything. However, we'll be building this Eberron with the players and DMs, so voice your opinions on things, please. Hopefully we can build a fun Eberron some of the extra non-core stuff :)

Now that we have our own forum, I intend to have threads to discuss each Eberron book as we get a chance to open them up and approve them. However, I do suggest we wait at least 6 months after the publishing date before we even consider adding a new one to the discussions.

These are open for anyone to talk in, and at the moment, require at least 2 of the judges to give a consensus on.

Took a look at the character thread today, and I think rogues are well represented: 4 out of the last 4 have been rogues, with 5 total. :)

Still no clerics. Or bards. ;)
