I'm with ya there. I tried nudging him toward Ranger/Druid, but he doesn't like to run any kind of spellcasting class. He doesn't mind picking up a few spells at higher levels, like the Ranger, but doesn't have the interest in a class with primary casting.

In other news, I'm going to make a Beholder Sorceror Demilich, a Master Vampire (they can daywalk) Psychic Theruge Illithid, and a Phenotype Impressionist Aboleth who is into a thrall 'improvement' program. Epic, naturally, but not neccessarily in that order.

Then how about putting Ranger & Rogue on one side and Fighter - for the feats - on the other?

Just some suggestions, since you're running an epic game:

The ELH doesn't have enough variety to really fill out epic play very well. There's lots of gaps. As such, I reccomend you check out the following sources for material:

What if you borrowed and modified from Feist, and had a race of humanoids, monstrous humanoids or native outsiders that all use some kind of horse-themed mount, the most popular being a half-green dragon pegasi. Now, since for an epic level character, an 8HD half-green dragon pegasus isn't really that fiersome, you may want to create a new creature with stats similar to a pegasus with the template, but have its HD be higher, like 10-15, and maybe be huge in size, so the riders can be large. Kind of borrowing on the visual concept of the Valheru, but altering all of the details.
