Dude. You can dual-wield bastard swords? I am so making my first character a ranger.
Skip the Bastard Sword and go straight to Battleaxe or Warhammer. Same damage, and doesn't cost you a feat to do, although it is one less attack bonus. Then spend that 1st level feat on Lethal Hunter and watch the damage really begin to pile up ;)

I live in Scotland so the particular bastard sword of choice is the Claymore...I would love to see someone dual wield these to be honest!

It is particulary amusing when you realise that there is no strength requirement whilst wielding two bastard swords, but try to pick up a light shield and you need a strength of 13 (if you don't start with it as a class feat). You can even spend a feat to give you +1 on AC just like a shield (but for that nasty strength requirement) and block arrows with your force of cool!

Either they should have given Strength requirements for both or none, either it is abstract ++ or not. It seems the definition of "cool" is based on that of a 14 year old boy who watches a lot of japaneese televison.

A friend of mine will only play half-elf bastard-sword-dual-wielding rangers named Himo. And this is since 3e. This'll be great for him.

Not that I condone (over)re-usage of character ideas - I constantly try and get him to try other things - But, hey, he has fun, so most of the time I roll with it.

Well, uh, your rules and your game, and all that. I'm not entirely sure how it's worse than a fellow wielding a pair of axes or suchlike. However, this isn't an innovation anyway, is it? From what I remember, you could easily do the same in 3E with an Exotic Weapon Proficiency and a willingness to take the extra -2 to hit for not having a light weapon in the off-hand.

There are people with double-digit IQ's nodding their heads in agreement with me all over the world.

I would just like to point out that if you have a double digit IQ, then your IQ ranges from 10 - 99, making them anywhere from Mentally Retarded (IQ of 70 - 79) to Average (91 - 100). :)

I think you meant triple digit scores.

See: irony.

3 a (1): incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result (2): an event or result marked by such incongruity b: incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play —called also dramatic irony, tragic irony

Which definition were you referring to?

If you were referring to my reference to an IQ of 100 being average and you're double digit remark, I only put it on there not because I don't know the difference between double and triple digit, but because that was the median IQ score of someone with average intelligence. Actually, average intelligence can go up to 110, being in triple digits. Of course, I'm sure that you'll have more people with double digit IQ's supporting you on this as well.

In all actuality, I don't care if you let your players use 2 bastard swords or not. I just found humor in your statement that people with double digit IQ scores agreeing with you. That just means that you suggested that people with Average to Below Average to Mentally Retarded IQ scores agreed with you.

He means that his point is so obvious that even really stupid people agree with it.

Yet here I am with a 180 IQ fairly vehemently disagreeing with him. So I'm not sure what IQ actually has to do with anything ...

Seriously. With Monkey grip I could not only put claymores in both hands and butcher people, but I could put a GIANT CLAYMORE in my main hand.

But hey, let's call 4e anime, even though you can swing larger weapons in 3e. ^_^
