Dex bonus on ranged touch attacks?

Grayhawk

First Post
So far, I've played it so touch attacks get a bonus from Str and so that ranged touch attacks get a bonus from Dex, as I feel it makes sense this way.

But it just struck me that I don't recall seing a rule on this.

Have I been doing it right, and if so, where's the rule?

From the SRD:

With a ranged weapon, your attack bonus is:
Base attack bonus + Dexterity modifier + size modifier + range penalty

Nothing in the touch attack rule contradicts this, ergo...

Yes, the fact that it requires a ranged attack should be enough...

Some effects are rays. You aim a ray as if using a ranged weapon, though typically you make a ranged touch attack rather than a normal ranged attack.

To me, Tome & Blood was the book which clarified very well that ranged touch attacks from spells should always be treated as a ranged weapon, for example getting benefits from ranged combat feats like Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, etc.
