D&D 5E Dexterity and Dragons

Oh, I thought the thread title was an apropos suggestion for changing the name of the game to reflect what's actually important.
I mean, it's a much more apt name for my games to be sure. I've been playing d&d with the same group for 5 years now and we've ran what I'd call a "dungeon" maybe a handful of times.

Quick contests by everybody spinning a dice, first one to stop spinning loses, winner lasts the longest. Highest appropriate stat gets to pick the type of dice first. Lowest might end up with a d4 or something difficult to spin properly.

Whatever the trial, you could reflect training in skills by letting people have multiple goes at it. So you get two tries if trained, 3 if you have expertise.

Archery contexts = throwing paper aeroplanes at each other at a distance. Nerf guns work too.
