Romero has never failed and this is going to be good as well. Land of the Dead isstill one of the best 5 zombie movies of the last decade and the most unsung.

OK, I'm trying to think of all the zombie movies that have come out in the last 10 years. Some people will argue that some of these aren't zombie movies (e.g., "28 Days Later"), but I say if it walks like a zombie and quacks like a zombie, it's a zombie.

(in no particular order)

Dawn of the Dead (remake)
Shaun of the Dead
Land of the Dead
Undead (Australian film)
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Planet Terror (part of Grindhouse)
Resident Evil
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Resident Evil: Extinction
Fido (Canadian comedy)
Evil (the first Greek zombie film)
Versus (Japanese film)
House of the Dead
House of the Dead 2
Children of the Living Dead
Night of the Living Dead 3D
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium
Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis
Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave

Any others?

I was disappointed in Land of the Dead, but it was a few minor issues, not any major problems. Overall I did like it. And based on DonTadow calling it "the most unsung" I will have to watch it again this weekend. :)

Seeing the list I compiled above, I would also place Land of the Dead in the top 5.

You're missing a few at least. I'll have to go through my collection later to see what I can add.

Off the top of my head:
All Souls Day
Dead and Breakfast
Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane

Also, if it ain't dead, it ain't no zombie.
That does not prevent a zombie 'feel' I absolutly call 28 Days/Weeks zombie flicks. Even though they are not zombies.

My main problem with 28 Days/Weeks is that by taking out the "magic" (actual undead) and making it "science" (by using the virus concept) the movies fail miserably. Neither the writer nor director ever took Biology 101...

I've been wanting to see Fido, is it good?

Woah there's a day of the dead 2 and a greek zombie movie i haven't seen. Time to check out netflix and see if they have them.

I always try to make sure that i don't make wild assumptions. Looking at your list this would be my top five in no order
SHaun of the dead
Land of the dead
Dawn of the dead remake
versus
Undead

Undead just beats out planet terror because of the tripple barrel shotgun. It also had a unique story of aliens being the ones who treat the zombie plague.

If we're including japanese movies you can add biozombie to that list. I want to add another 28 days, both of them, but its hard to figure out which on the list i'd want to take off. After years of arguments, i have conceded that both movies are in the style of zombie movies, they rate slightly lower because of the lack of undead zombies for me.

Though in mutant movies, they rank well above the toxic avenger.

Then I take it you aren't a fan of the Resident Evil movies either?

I don't think its as being as much of a fan but not including them in the zombie movie discussion.

My argument with the 28 days thing was only in the marketing are they ever called zombies, everyone else calls them the infected because they are still alive.

I like the resident evil movies as and the 28 days movies are superb, but I love the undead aspect of the zombie. I like hte ability that they keep getting up until a certain thing is done.

Why does mutant get a bad wrap. WHen there have been so many mass mutation movies 28 days tops them all. I throw i am legend in the mutation movie thing as well along with the flys.

I enjoyed them, mostly because of Milla... But the T-virus is just as silly as the Rage from 28 Days later... The T-virus alters the planets biosphere? Huh? But Rage is sillier... it doesn't obey a single rule of how a virus actually functions...
