Dice? Who needs dice? Just use an online roller.

Actually, I do own 1 set. It's the only set I've ever bought, and I'll likely not buy another until I lose one. So far... so good. ;)

What if a set of dice came out with amazing new shapes?

Amazing new shapes?

Non that are mathematically legal, of course. And .. not useful in any of the games I play with....

But if they were that cool I could buy them and sit them on my shelf! :p

There's no such thing as too many dice. New dice must be had, all the time, at all costs.

(Or else they'll get lonely and start rolling poorly.)

Ohhhh...that's what I've been donig wrong.

About every year I buy 1 to 3 new sets.

I own several dozen partial sets, hundreds of individual dice, and a half-dozen or so full sets that are destined to become partial sets which will then get replaced with new dice.

It's a wonderful cycle that my cats aid me in.

You didn't include an option for "oh, whenever"... I've purchased 14 sets of dice since 1980, no two in the same 8-month period, but not on any regular schedule.

Cheers,
Wyrm Pilot

I buy new dice when I feel that the luck may have run out on some older dice. Then I try to find some lucky dice in the store and purchase them.

Unfortunately, though most of the time the new dice are more lucky, sometimes the luck splits between old and new, making all dice meh now or the new dice completely rub off their luck on the old dice [which still makes their purchase worth it. ;)]
