Dice superstitions

I've never been one for the dice supersitions, but I had to at least accept the possiblities as, through two games, one of my new pcs has rolled 11 1s on three different d20s. The last session he rolled 4 consective ones in combat. The ironic thing is, it plays with his character, whom is a warforged defender (think dwarven defender) but the last two months three people whom he was suppose to be protecting was murdered as apart of his out of character background. Now he comes with the party, they know about his background, and he's always bobbling his weapon and standing around (because of the rolls).

there is a gnome artificer in my group who always insists on grappling every monster he sees. he doesnt hav any grappling feats, yet he always ends up roling high and keeping the enemies grappled. LOL

DUDE! Save that die if you ever actually play Alternity! That thing would be a player killer in that game! Heck - I've been looking for a low roller for about a year now, I have some PCs to kill in another of my Aliens-esque one shots.
Damnit. I should have realized that. Maybe instead of the suck rubbing off on the die, the die absorbed the good from the set.

Does anybody have superstitions that can teach a die that's been trainded to roll low to roll high? Or should something that comes from a discontinued game system be considered the sort of old dog that cannot be taught new tricks?

then agian, low-roll games might make the thing roll all 17s. Hmm.

I dont have much supertision, but i punish my dice sometimes.

When i roll too much low in a couple of game in a row, i put them in a plastic box with water, and i put the box in the freezer for a week until the next session.

Greetings...

ACK!! Don't destroy them...mail them to me!!!! I'm serious!!!

My superstition is my inability to "mix" sets. All the dice I use in a game session must come from a complete set.

Okay...so, here's my question DungeonmasterCal: How much dice do you have now?

Well, let me just start off by saying that once I showed my fellow gamers all my dice. My friends only saw me in different games using different sets of dice. So, when they finally were all playing in the same game together, they commented on my dice set. To which one of the players said "No, he's got a set in a chainmail bag."...and all the players then proceeded to actually map out on a piece of paper, chart all the different dice sets I had and what purpose I had them for.

I was rather amazed at the deductive powers. But, now they claim I don't collect dice by the set, but by the pound.

As for the suspersations that I have:
1. I roll dice repeatedly to get the 'low' rolls out of it, to reset it.
2. If I roll high, I don't touch the die (such as moving it to a better position for everyone to see it or to read it).
3. I too have the 'Just rolled low, next is high' bug.
4. As for charging up my dice, I don't stick them in my ear...but I will roll the die around in my hand or hold it for a few minutes while concentrating on it...to charge it with luck or chi, or what-have-you.
5. I segregate my 'bad dice', and put them in a smaller bag within my large travelling bag of dice. Just so that are made of example of and put on display for the other dice as a warning.
6. I do use new dice for a new character, or a new campaign.
7. I have separate sets of dice for separate characters.
8. I have separate sets of dice for separate campaigns I'm GMing.
9. I have separate sets of dice for playing and for GMing.
10. I have special dice for my BBEG.
11. I sometimes have separate dice for separate monsters/NPCs.
12. I don't however throw out rests of sets because I lost one die. I either buy a replacement, or put them in my 'miscellaneous' bag of dice.
13. I now collect different dice bags for my different sets.
14. I have been known to destroy dice because it's rolled one too many one's.
15. Any dice I use must belong to a complete set.
16. When roleplaying and not much rolling is going on, I organize my dice from lowest to highest, and sometimes I even turn the dice over so that the 'luck' won't pool on one side of the dice or another...yeah...crazy eh?
17. I love my glow-in-the-dark dice, I even have a handheld blacklight to charge my GitD Dice that will usually sit behind the GM screen.
18. I keep a set of dice on my neck that is never rolled in-game, they are considered jewelry (so it puts the 'luck' into statis).
19. I don't let bad dice and good dice sit together for long.

Now, this concept of 'uglier the better' die rule...you know I'm going to be thinking about that next time I game.

Well, I keep my dice in a velvet (? I think) bag, it was meant to be a pouch style thing for REALLY expensive watches. My dice usually roll well, but I ALWAYS keep them in that bag, the watch is usually on my hand or desk.

I don't have any per se, other than a penchant for arranging them with their highest value showing, which is more of an aesthetic issue than superstition. However, I'm convinced that I have both the avatars of good luck and bad luck at my table.

Scott cannot help but roll high. He still has his first d20, which he has dubbed 'Green Destiny.' I'd swear it was loaded, but whenever one of the rest of us rolls it, it has typical results. The kid crits just as often as not, and given his ability to build pretty powerful characters, he just keeps on succeeding.

Mike, on the other hand, is the universe's buttmonkey. He was notorious in our WoD games for spectacularly botching on his biggest dice pools...constantly. If there is a vital save to make, he will fail; if there is a stroke that must land, he will cut his foot off; if there is a trap to detect, he will find it...after we remove his spleen from its workings. It's...uncanny.
