Oof. Well, I HAD been planning on seeing this sometime, but I have yet to see anything good said about it. Think I'll give it a pass and see Texas Chainsaw Massacr this weekend instead (which will probably suck as well, but hope springs eternal...)

I was really hyped on seeing this, since I like survival horror and zombies and the whole schmeer as it were. The trailers (apparently not the new ones that have come out since the film started) looked interesting and pretty darn cool.

It sucked. I mean, really, it did. Everything that it was possible to do to make a terrible film, they did. I give it a D-, and that's only because of the boat captain and one character invoking Scooby Doo when looking at the old mission.

Yes, for some reason they thought it would be cool to put in brief cuts of very grainy video game action at random. It even happens in the 'suspence-building' part of the movie, and would completely jolt me out of the film. The cuts even get longer right in the middle of action sequences, as if it were appealing to some addled fan of the game (which I'd never heard of before I saw it in the credits) which can't let go.

The Big Fight Scene... is boring. It's obviously suppossed to be all cool and Matrix-esque, with huge panoramic shots, rotating actors, blah blah, but it's just boring.

It was just a terrible, terrible mess with only the slightest of redeeming features. Well, not redeeming. They make sitting through the thing barely tolerable.

I've blocked the memory of House of the Dead from my mind. It blew so hard I think it's what caused the low-level tornado the other day in Jersey.

It sucked and blew at the same time.

I had the chance to go see it last week but I didn't want to see it and TCM back to back, turns out I saw neither of them, which may sound lucky but my wife decided today that Scary Movie 3 looked really good, I just can't win for loosing. For what it's worth the previews for House of the Dead looked more like House of Crap, I wasn't amused or impressed, one of the reasons I passed on it last week.

Are her choices always so questionable or is this just a bad stretch?

Maybe you'll get lucky and do more cleaning this weekend.

I get to hear things like "Why won't you sit down and watch TV with me?" so I sit down and she turns on some crappy Mtv show, I get up to leave and she says "well watch whatever you want then" so I turn on the History channel and she gets up and leaves. Repeat daily.

Thanks for the laugh.
Yes laugh at my pain, you try sitting through a 12 hour real world/road rules marathon or any movie with Merideth Baxter Berney in it (Lifetime is the devil). The closest we ever got to agreeing is that we both watch Trading Spaces.
