Hold on, I might have to accept an NDA for my entire group? I'll have to get them to agree to it before we play? Wow, that's going to be tough to swallow for the casual gamer.

I should also mention that the first time I signed up, I did not receive confirmation. A few days later I tried again with the same address and then received confirmation. If you never got anything at all you might want to try again.

My thought also. When it's limited to only a certain group and NDA makes sense, but I don't see what the pointed would be for an open playtest.

I expect it will stop you using the playtests materials to produce and sell a clone of the game prior to release.

Wouldn't copyright cover that? I'm hoping I don't have to ask my players to enter into some legal arrangement before testing the game next week, I'm really not sure how well that would go over. I guess we'll see on the 24th.

I do, I also joined the "DnD Next" group, which I'm pretty sure you can do without being an insider, so I didn't know if it was that.

You can. I signed up for it, am not an insider subscriber.

Edit - and I looked through my email - the only email I have received is the initial intro letter.

No. You can't copyright game rules. But you can sign a contract which says you won't copy them.
