Die step chart

Where's the die step chart? I'm pretty sure it's in the DMG somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Someone gimme a page number. Thanks.

Hmm... not quite what I was looking for. You know how there's an epic spell factor "increase damage by one step"? I'm trying to figure out what 'one step' means.

The only die-step charts I know are the size increases, improved natural attack, and weapon size increases.

PHB 114 also has a die step chart for weapons.

bottm half, where it says 'Increase damage die by one step (d20 maximum)'. Just wondering how the damage die is supposed to increase.

I'd have to say 1d4->1d6->1d8->1d10->1d12->1d20.

That's all good until the 1d20, though.

How so? 1d20 is maximum, so once you get there you're done. Am I missing something (again)?
