Digest sized books...connect the dots...ebooks?

After learning the new digest-sized books in the upcoming Essentials line are basically formatted as one column/large text, I'm thinking just maybe WotC had ebooks in mind while designing Essentials.

I've heard news about pdfs/ebooks would be 'coming soon'.

Your thoughts? Do you think I'm onto something or am I grasping at straws here?

I'd sorely like to see D&D ebooks. Thanks :)

Yes, please!

That would be beyond awesome, to be able to carry everything I need for a game on my Kindle (plus, obviously, dice and a character sheet). Gaming collection in a paper-bag, if you will :)

Regards.

If WotC found a way to make their books work with all the charts and whatnot in a nonDRM ePub format, I'd buy every single thing they publish if they went for the same as a mass market novel ePub file.

If I'm not mistaken Steve Winter (editor of Dragon and Dungeon) mentioned a while back that it was only a matter of time before D&D went to electronic distribution for its books. At the time though, there was nothing definitive set in place (like release dates, etc.)

It may not happen in 4th Ed. but you can rest assured it will happen, particularly as the kindles, nooks, and other e-readers become more affordable, and thus, more widely used.
