Discussion - General Discussion Thread '09

A good starting point is the grandmother policy which applies on the boards in general. Historically, this comes from the policy which Eric Noah put in place on his boards. In summary, people were expected to use the sort of language they might use if Eric's grandma was present.

Oh your right didn't even think in that direction OPPS!! I always keep it clean.
The same thing would apply to romantic involvement during play. Keep it grandma-friendly (bearing in mind, too, that there are no age restrictions on membership of ENWorld, and the object of your virtual affections may, in fact, be 12 years old!)

Something else I didn't think of I think I 'll make gear all my affections towards NPC's of my own. LOL
Romantic interest has been expressed between PCs before now, and that's a reasonable part of the roleplay between characters - just make sure that any intimate details happen off-stage, and in private.

Like the fantasy novels paragraph A they are in each others arms kissing madly. Paragraph B they are waking up next to each other. don't need all that inbetween stuff like in the romance novels YUCK!! :-S

Alright, now this part may sound very odd, but again, better not to startle anyone.

What of same gender romance? I realize it likely wouldn't be common, but I want to make sure it won't break a rule if it does occur, or give anyone's grandmother a heart attack.

Edit note:
Thanks for the guidelines, I intended to avoid all the 'mushy stuff' for the most part, but want to make sure I won't make others too uncomfortable if the elements come up from time to time.

Ah, that's a good question. I, for one, think that, so long as the "privacy" rules are followed, same gender relationships need be no more shocking than different gender ones. (I mean, can you really imagine falling in love with that orc? ;))

If 'privacy' rules means the grandmother rules, then I understand completely, and was exactly as I intended. I just wanted to make certain it was alright before my 'recruit' and I rolled up the characters.

Different question now: Site says "SRD Rules" as allowed. Does that include the variant races? Like, Aquatic Elf, Fire Hobgoblin, etc...

If so, are there any limitations on which are permitted?

SRD refers to the *official* SRD, published by WOTC. The variant rules from Unearthed Arcana, included in the two most widely used hyperlinked SRDs, are not part of this. However, since they are open game content, they can be proposed as house rules. Several of the variant classes in that section have been approved. The environmental racial variants have not been approved; however, this is only because they have not been proposed. If you'd like a chance, propose it, and we can consider it.

Ah. After looking through, I'm not sure if there are any I'd really want to play, the Aquatic thing seemed like it'd have cool flavor, but I'd have to spend a feat just to be a 'normal' character, basically, getting the feat to let my character breath air.

Thanks for the answers though.

Another question! Weee, I'm full of them today.

I tried finding it, but is there any special procedure for a proposal? Or do I just post a new thread titled "Proposal: [insert proposal here]"?
