Hey, orsal!

This is just to let you know that I keep getting error messages whenever I try to send you an email. It does say that it'll retry for the next couple of days, but I thought I'd better let you know. :)

'Nock

I've gotten a few messages from you in the past day or two but in some cases after messages from others replying to those same messages. So, I guess it was a temporary glitch.

I'm not entirely opposed to moving the thread, but I'd rather not. Why? Because I like the idea of people being able to leave for a spell and jump right back in. Also, the very first characters probably wouldn't be on the first page anymore, and that makes me sad. The tech guy said it should be resolved within a few weeks, so I'll just leave the inactives off the list until then.

Unless there's an overwhelming outcry for a new character thread, for some reason.

I've been wrestling with Photoshop for a few weeks to create this physical rendition of Enworld. It's based off of the extremely off-scale world map, adjusted to show what the world really looks like.

The second image is has some black reference points. The two squares are where the smaller images are located. The dots are references to my current adventure, Sojourn in Sairundan. The southmost dot is the city of Helatia. The next dot to the north is Irid's establishment, The Oasis (the last place before the desert proper that you can obtain guaranteed water). The next dot is a massive, cursed ruins (potential place for future adventures!). The next dot is the First and Furthest Inn (the inn on the far side of the Seven Bridges Road).

The rivers are missing (I couldn't find a way to make them look good). There are no islands in the Great Sea, but I wasn't really sure where they would go, so...

Everything is pretty variable, so I definitely want input from everybody on where everything should go!

Help?!

Sorry to interrupt, but I'm trying to start my first character for Living EN World and i'm wondering how the Craft Points work?

See the "Craft Points" entry in this thread. Note that this is the updated figure for CP gained per level (150 x level, not 100 x level as was previously the case).

Effectively, CP take the place of the time required to craft an item. I believe they can only be used in "down time" - that is, when not on adventure. You need to meet the prerequisites for crafting the item in question. For example, if you want to craft a weapon or some armour, you need access to a forge. You pay one third the market price in raw materials for mundane items. Which reminds me - the table in that post I pointed you to still has incorrect figures for costs of crafting mundane items. I'd better get to work and update it!

Hmm, is there anything else that's unclear about Craft Points?

Is that the whole world? There don't seem to be any southern seas, which characters visited toward the end of "A Clash of Earth and Sea."

Do we really want a map showing the whole world, or is it usefull to have some unknown areas?

Good question, I hadn't noticed that myself. I thought anybody with the skill ranks in Craft could attempt to create a MW item. If the feat just gives a bonus to that ability that's fine, but it seems to say you have to have it otherwise you are limited to non-MW items. This is important to me to find out because one of my characters is about to be between adventures and I was planning on her crafting some MW armor/shield for herself to then have enchanted.

Hmmm, in looking around a bit more I found this: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=142438
If you scroll down a bit you see the rules for Craft Points. I believe this is the current actual rules for Craft Points since the amounts for Craft Points gained (150 per level) are different from the thread quoted earlier (only 100 CP/level gained each level). The 150 CP figure matches up with my character sheets and I remember it being an issue during approval that I had the wrong amount due to finding that other table. (Maybe it can be gotten rid of if it isn't the current actual rules to avoid further confusion?) In the thread I just linked to, there is no mention of a feat to make MW items and as LogicsFate points out, even the asterisk in the original thread seems to say that it's not a requirement, but a bonus to the crafting skill (despite what the text of the feat says).
