My wizard has a captured spellbook from an enemy wizard he got on his first adventure. I'd been saving it b/c I'd wanted him to keep a complete copy of his spellbook back at Joe's in case his was lost or destroyed. Back when I used to play in 1E, having a spare spellbook was very important.

But Iggy has been so cash-strapped that I've never been able to get a second copy of his spells recorded. And now I guess I'll just have to sell that extra spellbook to russell up some much needed cash. It's expensive being a wizard.

Speaking of judges, could I get some feedback on my "Hoopak" Proposal? I think it's a valid item, and I'd like to see some yays or nays on it, if anyone has the time to give it a look.

So. In about two months or so (probably less), The Search for Tomas Quinn will be done, and I'm going to put together my next adventure.

How many 1st levels do we have kicking around? I have a few ideas over what to run, and I wanted to get some feedback.

1) Pathfinder - I was thinking of running Burnt Offerings, from Pathfinder. But set it up so that it doesn't lead into the second part, and make some other minor changes to tweak it for LEW. Big problem is, I could see that adventure taking maybe eight months to finish. It's pretty complex.

2) GM for Hire - the idea here would be to have a player ask the GM for a quest involving his PC, and me writing an adventure based around that. The Player would be responsible for hiring his own crew (from the RDI, of course) and organize his "expedition".

The example I'm thinking of, actually, is Rasereit, and his character's quest to find his ancestral homeland. He'd say to me "This is the basic outline of what happened", and I'd write up an adventure around that. I'd then say "Okay, so you'll have a long overland trek to get there, you know there are some traps in the halls, and there's a rumour of there being ogres" or something like that. I'd also say "other PCs should be around 3rd level". And he'd be responsible for putting togehter his party.

Big problem with the idea, though, is that it would (by nature) focus around one PC - other players might feel left out. Also, if the organizing PC doesn't do a good job, it could result in a TPK (though, I think LEW needs more PC deaths, anyways!).

I could probably run both, since Pathfinder is already done for me.

just really fishing for feedback, here.

2) GM for Hire
Currently the "Secret of Gemhold" run by Erekose is exactly this sort of adventure. Gorefoot - IcyCool's gnome barbarian - is the last surviving member of Gemhold after it was overrun by goblins. The party is going back for revenge. The only difference is that the party was already a cohesive group and Erekose had DMed their previous adventure. But, it is all working out very well.

Good to know there's a precedent for it.

Out of curiousity, what pre-published adventures have been run already? I've got a few that I'd be willing to try out on some PCs:

The Dragonfiend Pact
The Transmuter's Last Touch
Pathfinder - Burnt Offerings
Collaborative Dungeon #4 - Tomb of Chaos

I believe the Tomb of Chaos adventure was at least the basis for the dungeon Erekose ran us through before the Secret of Gemhold. I haven't read though the published version so I don't know how similar they were. I don't know about any of the others.

I really like your GM for hire idea Wik. The thing is, that most people are holding thier breath for RA's Mega Adventure (tm). Like RA said, i'd wait and see how many adventurers are left after the Kick-off of the M-A and take it from there.

Gm for hire.
I think it as a really good idea and it don’t necessary has to be focused on one pc. If the game don’t have lots of pc vs. npc conversations I don’t think it is a problem, Lost Mithril is such a game too.
