Those requirements sound reasonable, but I am by no means approving or disallowing any specific feat at this time. ;)

A wise decision. ;)

As for the feat... perhaps you could gain access to the feat whenever you develop it, but then it would be considered as having spent your next available (applicable) feat.

That sounds like a reasonable idea. :) Thanks for your input.

Oddball question I haven't yet found the answer to:

Where is the Red Dragon Inn? In the city of Lathirn?

Is the place the tavern is at coastal or elevated, rural or urban (if not Lathirn) or...?

Well, I'm guessing it's not in Lathrin, as Troi is making references to possibly go back there... so it wouldn't make much sense if the Red Dragon were in Lathirn.

I'm back, and wow... crashed boards, posts caught in an incredibly evil time warp... and now I finally can post...

I'll catch up in a bit, but I've got some stuff to point out first that I should have warned Gary about earlier.

1) When we post important information that judges would collect (for instance, your posts in the pantheon thread) we need a seperate nickname that all the judges can log on under. That means that the name and password would be known to Uriel, creamsteak, Garyh, and anyone else as time goes on. That makes changing information much easier for everyone.

2) Character name in your sig is good, important stuff.

3) If you are PLAYING A CHARACTER, feel free to subscribe to threads that are OOC freely. However, only subscribe to IC threads that your character is participating in, and unsubscribe when you leave. That is, when you leave the Red Dragon Inn, you need to hit the unsubscribe button on the bottom of the thread. Then subscribe to your new thread. This isn't so important now, when there are so few IC threads, but it will be important when your character runs a shop, then leaves for an adventure, then drops by the tavern, and such.

We are NOT using the standar manual of the planes word for word. We might borrow some, make up some, change some, destroy some, etc.

It's all about feeling the game out as it creates itself.

As far as introducing higher ECL races...

I was thinking that a player with an 8th level character could possibly retire that character (still run him, but not as an adventurer, stops gaining experience and such), to start a new character at half that level.

So if I'm a 20th level cleric and I have myself pretty comfortable, I can end my experience gaining career to create a character that would have a level or level+ecl of 10.

Not sure about this at all, but it was one thought. We could also attempt a savage species (monsters that level) mechanic, not sure at all like I said.

Also, I'm thinking that you can possibly make some sense out of removing xp costs for crafting magic items. Just a consideration i was thinking about, if we want to have a player dependant society.

Alright, I'm having trouble reading the inn thread and storing what I read to memory. Anyone willing to give me a synopsis?

A synopsis:

In the bar:

Troi
Milo (w/ weasel Snark)
Telerin (w/ a wolf)
Felix
Rinaldo
Grak the singing barbarian
Tiggle the bartender
Velbrik
Thurgan
Llolian
Zumar
Torindel
Ned
Zoe

What's happened:

Everygody got drinks (pretty much).

Grak and Troi almost had a to-do, but Tiggle asked them to stop.

Milo and Grak sang, Velbrik told a story,

Troi organized a party of Troi, Zoe, Felix, Thungar, Grak, Velbrik and Telerin

Tiggle asked for people to bring back exotic ingredients for drinks.

Hopefully I didn't miss anybody.

I have a suggestion - could we have a sticky sign-in sheet for the bar? I don't know if it's possible, but it'd be nice to have an easy way to know who's in.

I'm going to attempt a Sneaky Trick and figure out a way that we can have a sign in sheet. I've got 3 options,

1) Make an account that registered characters have the password to, and they add to it as they go...

2) Find some way to work in some html that allows people to add and subtract names as they go. Tricky, but if it's possible I'd like to know.

3) Use the 'all judges' account to update it, so as a judge coasts by the thread they can update the data.

Any opinions?

Exists in the 'computer illiterate' realm...for the most part (but I'm learning, woohoo!). I don't know how much help i'd be with HTML (ok, I would be NO help).

Any of the options are fine by me, CS.

Since you are around, a grey area that I brought up earlier, but it got lost in the shuffle.

To allow a bit of leeway in fleshing out their (soon to be numerous) characters, I suggest that we allow the <Core> race variants of the PHB races, as long as they aren't ECL ones (Drow, etc...)

Dwarf: Mountain Dwarf, Deep Dwarf (a concept I like very much, as it puts a traditional 'underground' spin to Dwarves.

Elf:Grey, Wild and Wood Elves.

Gnome:I believe that the forest gnome has been made a +1ECL in Savage Species, so they would be out.

Halfling:Talfellow and Deep Halflings.

These are a> not unbalancing, b>all Core from 3.5 and c>they are not monster PC, but rather slightly differing variants of the standard PH presentations,d> going to help flesh out the world with a bit of variety.

I personally like the differences implied in the different Elf sub-groups ,for example, and I plan to add that into a part of ENWorld that I want to develop. CS, let me know if you have a problem with allowing these races.

Question for you, cs...

What if someone wants to leave the tavern? Say, for instance, that a job offer comes in, and Troi wants to go get Thurgan before he heads out.

Does that become a seperate thread? Do I post a thread called [Living Enworld] Troi in search of Thurgan? Or how would that work? If it does become a new thread, is there a Judge assigned to it? A DM? I realize that my example wouldn't necessarily have combat in it... but this is important for threads in which combat is possible.

Go ahead and allow them then. I wanted to be strict, but I'm so gosh darn kind I guess I'll let it slide .

I was going to eventually, you realize, it's just that I'm trying to minimize exceptions to the rules.

Also, you guys were discussing the custom feat issue. Well, heres creamsteak's opinion on the matters...

A custom feat must be ok'd at least 1 full level before you can gain the feat. It must be Ok'd by the judges council, and the player must meet any pre-reqs (including quest challenges) to get the feat, set by the judges or the DM dealing with that characters development.

Secondly, if you take the 9th level (dojo/church/etc.) feat, you can teach custom feats to any characters that meet the pre-requisite + any additional pre-requisites the teacher chooses to have.

I'd also like it if the 9th level feat CAME WITH a custom feat, and the trainer can craft additional custom feats at 12th, 15th, and 18th levels, if they have one in mind.

Thoughts? Also, I don't think custom feats can come as bonus feats for any class (it would weight that class over the others, for instance if there were 30 bonus fighter feats to 10 wizard feats). Just going over thoughts in my head that is.
