I prefer to think of it as a "do anything but walk away and you're going to die, because we're not going anywhere," but I'll still trade that for Troi.
Just for my own enrichment: Doesn't the fact that {the druid's readied action didn't trigger} bring our other readied actions into play? It makes sense from a meta standpoint to me, because him not actually killing Troi would give Rurik, for example, time to walk to within 20' of him, and pull back the bowstring, making the shot instantaneous whenever he wishes, but I could be wrong, so I'm asking.
The Druid's action hasnt triggered and is still held.
In anew round (because he goes before all of you do), he can do the same thing.None of your (or his) readied actions carry over, and he just happens to be first in the 'reset' of the round.
But,really, we are just waiting for Ishmael to respond before we can go on to what happens in subsequent rounds.
We're still in combat rounds, correct?
Yes
And doesn't Troi get a Fortitude save or Stability check each round he takes damage?
Yes, I am making them {he failed the last one}
I guess part of the confusion is that while we're negotiating with the terrorists, others (such as Thurgan) are still in combat, and Troi is still bleeding out.
Just brainstorming, here, but I have several ideas. Take the appropriate pound of salt when considering:
- Velbrik can mutter the incantation and throw the wand at Troi at the same time as the Druid CDG's him - ranged touch attack. If it hits, it heals, and if it heals enough, Troi is at positive (for the time being), prone, cannot be CDG'ed, and can roll away from the druid on his initiative, risking an attack if the Druid notices, but getting a Reflex save. If it doesn't hit, Troi's on his own to stabilize and beat the poison, still helpless, the wand scatters according to the grenade table, and the Druid can react to the situation however he wants.
A Wand is not a grenade, you can't 'arm' it and throw.Velbrik needs to hold it when he uses it.To activate a Wand must be held in the hand, as per the DMG pg 245
- If the druid walks away, Rurik (and others) can move to cover Troi at the same rate (slowly) as the Druid's movement away. If Velbrik reaches him, he can use the wand.
