Well, if we merge them:

"ENWorld's persistent Play-by-Post campaign setting. Massive multiplayer online RPGs... not just for computer gamers anymore- it's like Everquest, only without the leetspeak, nasty side effects and risk of overdose. Oh, and plot. Did we mention plot? Come join in the fun!"

But even that's a bit long. How about:

"ENWorld's persistent Play-by-Post campaign setting. Like Everquest, only without the leetspeak, nasty side effects and risk of overdose. Oh, and plot. Did we mention plot? Come join in the fun!"

Could we leave out Evercrack in the Tagline?
I hate Everquest and everything it stands for, from Heroin-like addiction to the smell that EQcrakies generate when you go to visit them at their homes.
Oh, and did i mention that EQ is NOTHING like LEW?
We are a Roleplaying game, EQ is a pedantic, inane excercise in staring at a screen for 12 hours straight and camping for a week to get some 'ultra-rare' Magic item (of course, you really camp for 4 weeks so that all 12 of you have a shot for said 'Ultra-rare item...'

Seriously, leave EQ off the tagline. If I were to wander by ENWorld and see that, I would not even give LEW a shot. There is no backstory to EQ, no Roleplaying and there damn sure isn't anything creative about running around constantly trying to upgrade your 60th Level Ogre Shaman .0000000123% from what he was just at by sitting in front of your computer for 17 hours until some monster 'Spawns'.

**********************************************************

As you can tell, I hate EQ with a passion. I have lost one friend to it so far, and it makes me sick even looking at his pathetic ass, since letting your mom pay your rent and being a Zombie (not the cool flesh-eating variety,either...) in front of a computer screen is so much more fun that actually going outside and doing things.

Rant ended. Please do not include Everquest in the Tagline, thanks.

Distaste duly noted. And kudos for what is easily the most entertainingly vitriolic everquest smackdown I've read yet. :) It was, as I said, mostly a joke. Can't say I've played it, actually; briefly, in my younger years, played another MMORPG called "Realms," but dropped it for the obvious time-related reasons.

Has anyone heard from Kahuna Burger recently? It's been 2 full weeks since she has posted in either of her games.
Just wondering if she mentioned problems/RL issues etc...

Sorry about that earlier post. Even words like 'Buffs' and 'Rez's' make me twitch. By the way, the aformentione 60th Level Ogre Shaman is the main character that my (lost) friend plays 12 hours a day. He lies to himself and to us, saying things like 'No, I went out today, I played tennis with Mike...' and 'I hardly even play anymore...' when his other roomate and I can hear the keys flying (or just the cyber crickets chirping as he camps a Monster as we watch whatever horrid Italian Zombie movie I have drudged up from the Vaults.
Ah, Denial...and I don't spend all that much time n ENWorld either...
One of my friends said to me 'Why don't you just look at porn all night like every normal person...'
Ha!

I probably spend too much time at the boards, but at least I'm doing homework at the same time. Helps me actually keep my procrastination under control.

And I honestly think lying to advertise our setting is asinine and juvenile. This isn't Enron, or even New Coke. Our tagline doesn't need to be 'marketed.'

Heh... I am a juvenile, what were you expecting? ;)

I agree with you - lying isn't a good plan. Still though, a degree of marketing is necessary. Just look at how few people voted on the material allowed poll - only 20 or so. We need to get more people if this thing is to grow and develop, etc etc.

Do just what? It's a big, persistent PbP. It's not modeled after squat in Living Greyhawk, or RPGA. There's no stupid Triads of regions, our world looks nothing like theirs.

I'm sorry, I was working off of what CS said, way back when this started, that it was going to be similar to Living Greyhawk. I was trying to give a hypothetical reader a base to work with. Try describing the differences between a dalmation and a greyhound to someone who doesn't know what a dog is, and you'll see why I tried to make a comparison. ;)

And although I SO wish that even some of this was true, there's no way in hell that any of it is, and some of it is physically impossible.

Who's to say that it isn't true? This project (?) is fairly young... we haven't really tried out some things. For instance, what would happen if Troi decided to wander off from Rivenblight's Castaway right now? Honestly, I don't know... but the fact is, he could, and he would be able to pursue something else, without being removed from the game like he would be if this were a tabletop game.

Some things - yes, I agree, are impossible. That's why I said it was a rough sketch of what we could put up - I didn't say that we should use it as it sat.

To be completely honest, it doesn't really bother me what goes up for the tagline. I was just trying to be helpful, alright?

I'd rather see us work on what we'd have to do to make all that possible, instead of gussying up a tagline when we don't need to.

Agreed. :)
