Jack Haggerty, nimisgod, dpdx, I'll email you all the password to the judge account (if I can get it to work). Then I'm booting Macbeth's old FAQ in favor of an "Let's get organized" thread. In that thread, we will decide on the format for organizing our information in a manner that presents itself readily to anyone.

"Like Everquest, only without the leetspeak, nasty side effects and risk of overdose. Oh, and plot. Did we mention plot?"

"Massive multiplayer online RPGs... not just for computer gamers anymore."

but I honestly think we need to do something like that to attract attention.
And I honestly think lying to advertise our setting is asinine and juvenile. This isn't Enron, or even New Coke. Our tagline doesn't need to be 'marketed.'

"Tired of linear campaigns, of having to deal with the same characters over and over? Want to experience a new world that grows every day, that your actions have a real effect on? Then join Living EN World, where you can do just that! Living EN World is a campaign modeled after Living Greyhawk, but with much fewer restrictions. Your character can adventure or go anywhere you like, with old companions or new, at any time you want! No more being limited to what your party wants to do or what your DM has planned out... Living EN World is as close to real-life as gaming can get."
Do just what? It's a big, persistent PbP. It's not modeled after squat in Living Greyhawk, or RPGA. There's no stupid Triads of regions, our world looks nothing like theirs. And although I SO wish that even some of this was true, there's no way in hell that any of it is, and some of it is physically impossible.

I'd rather see us work on what we'd have to do to make all that possible, instead of gussying up a tagline when we don't need to.

Well, if we merge them:

"ENWorld's persistent Play-by-Post campaign setting. Massive multiplayer online RPGs... not just for computer gamers anymore- it's like Everquest, only without the leetspeak, nasty side effects and risk of overdose. Oh, and plot. Did we mention plot? Come join in the fun!"

But even that's a bit long. How about:

"ENWorld's persistent Play-by-Post campaign setting. Like Everquest, only without the leetspeak, nasty side effects and risk of overdose. Oh, and plot. Did we mention plot? Come join in the fun!"

A few propositions for you...
  • Let's clean out the 'character' thread. I'm certain there's quite a few characters in there that aren't being played, and many of the character sheets need to changed to the LEW standard format.
  • I've got some spare webspace... I can create a small subdomain to create a simple LEW website.
  • I'd like to collect all the bits and pieces of original LEW stuff that is more or less approved, and start reformatting it into an HTML 'LEW SRD'.

Descriptive and succinct. There really isn't any need to mention Living Greyhawk or Everquest.

You've got a point. My desire to stick a joke in somewhere is probably misplaced in this instance.

Either WizWrms or dpdx's would suffice, both covering the salient points and being admirably brief.
