Stop picking on me Uriel:p , just kidding.

It says in the PHB that a cleric need not choose to worship a deity, PHB 3.5 page 32 under deity, domains and domian spells. I choose self worship because I thought it would be more humerous than none. If this world requires a deity, then I shall of course pick one, however, I did not see one that stood out for my tastes for that character.

If I remember correctly, Kahuna Burger has a gnome (?) cleric without a deity. The character is a member of the Mortalists, an atheist group. Check in the character thread.

Ah, DM lack. I feel guilty about this, as I've had an adventure idea in my head for a while but, for various reasons, I haven't run it (and one of those reasons was that it looked like no one was in the tavern :p). I'll send it in for approval posthaste and start it as soon as I get the word. That should clear out the tavern some (and Fant wouldn't be interested in it, so it doesn't strain credibility if she doesn't leap at it).

Edit: Okay, scratch that, I got it approved in Febuary, which means I had better reasons than I thought I did for not starting it. In any case, tally ho! To the tavern! (Rocco, the adventure might interest pre- or post-revision Robilliard, even).

As for e-mail addresses, recently (I know not when) you stopped being able to view people's e-mail in their profiles, which you used to be able to do. It is fairly irritating. In any case, I believe that livingenworld (at) yahoo.com, or perhaps livingenworldjudge (at) yahoo.com, is the general e-mail address.

Creamsteak,

Hate to bother you again, but I have a question that not only concerns me but everyone who might one day choose, at your discretion, to play a psionic character.

I was reviewing the 3.0 rules when I decided that 3.5 must surely have updates for things like Animal Empathy. I am not sure if the revision is out in stores, but what are your guide lines for character creation for this psionic adventure you are going to run?

The Telepath's get Animal Empathy, but that is not a 3.5 skill anymore, so do they get wild empathy?

I saw a book for the revisions, but I don't know if it is out yet.

Also, are you allowing non standard races, like these that are in the 3.5 updated version (some are level ADJ 0):

I am going to wait and hear from you before I make a character. While I love making characters, I have a pregnant wife (just found out today it's a boy, yahoo, if anyone is wondering) that eats a lot of time and I don't want to make another character if I cannot play in your Module, but I did have my heart set on playing a Telepath.

sorry about that mess, it looked better when I had it in the text editor, anyway, if you look close, it is a bunch of races.

The 3.5 psionic revision is both out in stores (the Expanded Psionic Handbook), and available online, on the WotC website in the SRD here.

The only psionics stuff allowed in LEW is the stuff in the SRD which has been updated to 3.5 with the release of the Expanded Psionics handbook. I would post you the link here, but my browser is acting up. You really need to look through there as there have been significant changes to psionics with the new book.

Edit: WizWrm beat me to it. There is the link for you.

It's pretty funny to see folks complaining about there being too many characters and not enough adventures(DMs), when not-so-long-ago I was chastised for running too many/finishing them too quickly.
I pretty much gave up on DMing multiple adventures at that point, so as to not hear anyone bitch/complain/otherwise whine when I finished DMing a 6th,7th,15th adventure...

Actually, uriel, with due respect, from my memory of the discussion (and the adventures that sparked it) what you were "chastised" for was running high impact combat heavy adventures which had folks leveling up by the time a more, perhaps, story intensive adventure (which seemed favored by the other active DMs at the time) had finished introducing the plot hooks and letting the players roleplay a bit on their way to the first big fight scene. And encouraging repeat players so that those in your campaigns were at risk of taking on other PCs as followers by the time those others returned from their first adventure.

I played in one of your games, and while your response time was well and good (if a little impatient at times) it wasn't the issue. The issue was moving from one life or death, high risk, high XP fight to the next with few pauses to catch our breath. Its not a bad play style, many will like it, but without the latitude for other DMs to give massive story/RP rewards, it was setting up a potential imballance that was worrying some people.

At least thats how I remember the issue, and the reasons it was brought up. YMMV.

Kahuna Burger

Creamsteak, I think that post looks excellent. And I only saw one typo. (The instead of they in the first paragraph of players.) The questions that Kahuna Burger raised are all things that I would also like to see answered, but I think they would belong in a seperate judge specific post. Likewise races allowed, PrCs, etc.

My own PC (not that he's doing much...looks at Creamsteak) was denied the path that I wished for his (Swashbuckler) as well, since the Complete Warrior is not among the sources that we are allowed to choose from.

You've confused me... I've updated the game thread a few times, but havn't gotten a message back from you yet. Unless I missed something, which is surely likely. Go over to the thread and read it (remember it's the "searching for Sullivan" game and not Dwarven Golems and Old Ruins).

Who are the current judges on LEW?

I'm unsure of dpdx and Manzita, as they've been absent for a bit, but the current LEW judges that are present are myself, nimisgod, pbartender, and Uriel, and perhaps Knight Otu. I sincerely hope I'm not forgetting anyone, but it has been a bit since I've been active (6 weeks I think).

I'll actually be revising specific jobs in a bit. I'd like to have two men on the character thread at least, so nobody is ever overwhelmed. And at least one person (not me, cause I just can't do it at all) needs to be the "plot coordinator" of sorts.

How many judges are there approving mechanics related content (since we need the aproval of three of them?)

GaryH & Macbeth are formally no-longer judges. Myself and Uriel remain. Nimisgod and Pbartender have filled in. I'm putting dpdx and Manzita on "away" for now.

How does one become a judge for LEW? What are the qualifications and proccess?

Nomination by another judge, or you could ask to fill a specific duty. Qualifications are pretty much intangibles, but someone that shows regular and continuous activity and possibly has a penchant for running successful games is a good judge.

Are there any specific responsibilities a judge takes on in terms of regularity of checking for new proposals in his or her area? (How do we know that a judge is still out there?)

Everyone that has been a judge so-far has seemed regular to me at the time when we admitted them, but since then we've had multiple people abandon things. I'd like to avoid that, and I'd like to illiminate the need for having lots of judge related activity. I think 4 total should be enough if they are consistent and the dms are clear and concise.

As long as content poses no copyright issues, why is approval up to the judges entirely, rather than the larger group of playing and DMing contributers?

My choice. Although I'm fine with anyone's opinions on a particular class or race, and I want to see a lot more comments from players and DMs, I'd like to avoid the "10-15 votes for approval" since a lot things could happen. Two or three people could vote for something entirely on "this doesn't bother me" or "coolness factor" or "helping a friend" or anything else. I'd rather restrict it to a smaller group for actual voting. I'd like to keep it down to a small group that would carefully examine something for it's entirety.

Does prior judge vetting of adventures facilitate or inhibit new DMs in starting their adventures?

What's vetting?
