(Discussion) General Part VII

So, after the server upgrade, I'm thinking that we can clean up the forum a bit (new character thread to fill in, clean up the rest of the proposals, get the map put up in some spots, generally get the whole place all "shiny").

Then, once we've set this all up, we get about 4-6 games set up waiting in the wings. These would be adventures were ready to start around the same time (probably with some inter-related plot that hinges on the actions of all the individual groups). Then we run a big recruitment drive thread in general discussion (possibly an announcement or a sticky, I think I can manage that), and get ourselves some new blood and get into some new action. It'll be like a bit Living EN World event.

What do you all say?

Having a new character thread could be good, but I would let the old one active for a while. If I take my example, I had some problem and I wasn't active in LEW for a few months and came back, and I was happy to find my character was still there to play. Maybe the old thread could be put in some archive.

right. In the judges thread (I think), we started discussing larger world themes, about which different DMs could plan adventures. I had a couple ideas, but there wasn't much comment. Perhaps it was the wrong forum. Personally, I don't think we're short on players so much as on DMs. I think if we have the DMs, the players will come. Whether from the talking the talk boards, or simply 2nd and 3rd PCs from existing players. I think we should focus on world-building, as it relates to campaign threads. Get current and prospective DMs talking, and building some common themes.

I'd just like to let you guys know that I'm a potential DM, that is, I DM games locally, and I'm interested in running PbP games once I get my wits together for it. Also I'll need to get a handle on how much time this IR thingy is going to take up.

New character thread: Good idea. (Velmont, I'm pretty sure that the current thread would remain as an archive.)

I'm also for a recruitment drive for DMs and players. Campaign building (ad a campaign document, by extension) are pretty much a must at this point. We might want a basic idea how the cosmology looks, but that is not as pressing yet.

I'm going to wait till the server upgrade before starting the work on the new character thread. The site just crawls, and it seems like it won't be anything better than a nuisance until the server upgrade.

Post server upgrade we can work on that and a bunch of other LEW things that we've been talking about both here and in email.

a few things

Alright I am working on my adventure now. I won't be ready to send out proposals for a few weeks as I have too heavy a workload to run it right now. I do have a few questions that I can't find on the boards though.

Vestermarch Cities: I know they have mostly or at least a large population of High Elves from the description of Rivenblight, but I would like to know more. This could prehaps be a good location for a small part of my campaign. I need to know the capital city. government. population. ect.

Realm of Hendrillia: I know it is a human kingdom also from Rivenblight's description. Need to know more though. including the relationship between it and Medibaria.


A few suggestions for the workload. Organize the heaps of approved content. Put the classes together in one thread. Skills in another. and eliminate the double posting of gods. Make the Atlas thread a sticky and put the map on it. Update the archivomatic.
