Question for the wise

So, once I post my character up in the proper thread, how do join a game? I understand I should go roleplay at the RDI, but will a GM/DM create an adventure an introduce it from there? Or do I need to send an e-mail around?

Your posting in the Red Dragon Inn thread is the best indication for potential DMs that there are characters waiting for adventures. As for when a DM actually creates an adventure -- that's up to chance. Sometimes we get adventures lined up with no adventurers to jump on them, sometimes characters are waiting discouragingly long in the Inn before an adventure hook arrives. But in time there will be an adventure for you.

lonesoldier, one additional thing. You can role play all you want in the Red Dragon. You can even go on an adventure, if the DM will have you. But the Living ENWorld rule is that you don't earn any experience until your character is approved by one of the character judges.

Of course, if your character has already been approved, that's all moot. ;)

Yeah

I believe I caught the gist of the 'Guide to Living EN World'. I'm just still putting the finishing touches on the character. Thanks a lot guys.

Have you sent an e-mail to nimisgod or Knight Otu? They're the ones who clear characters. Their e-mail addresses are in one of the sticky threads.

Another Q:

Steve: I have yet to do so.

I'm just writing my background right now, and I realized. I know absolutly nothing about this world. : / This might take longer than expected. Would it be okay to get the mechanical details approved and then finish the background?

Yeah, I'm not sure this world is fully fleshed out like, say, the Forgotten Realms, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I basically created a new place to be Lasair and Zaeryl's home, for instance

lonesoldier, several characters have been approved with incomplete or even non-existant backgrounds. Unless you put something there that is wildly incompatible with Living ENWorld (like, [This character] is from the planet Mars in the 23rd century, and was transported to Orussus by meddling with the space-time continuum), you can probably get it approved.

And yes, Living EnWorld is very much a work in progress. If you have a neat idea for a new place or NPC or whatever, feel free to submit it as a proposal. You'll probably want to do your homework first to see if it fits in well with stuff that has already been approved, though.

How long does approval usually take? I sent them an e-mail several days ago and posted my character. I still haven't heard back from them. Though it was the weekend.

My character's background is still being fleshed out, but part of the reason for that is I was detailing a particular gypsy caravan that he comes from a bit more to provide an interesting background and perhaps even have it contribute to something interesting to the world.

I'll probably give it another day or so before I step into the Inn (Rather be aproved personaly), especialy because another friend was so interested in the caravan concept she's creating a character from it as well and is helping me flesh it out a bit.
