Discussion of Scotley's upcoming 4e Swashbuckler Game

I think this is one aspect I really like of 4e, easier equipping heroes. Just make sure you have a weapon with a good proficiency bonus and a level appropriate enhancement on armor, weapon and neck item and you should be good.

You make it sound so easy, WD!

Same here. Usually, I do weapon (or implement) as the L+1, Armor as L, and Neck item as L-1. Then, I'll use my gold to buy 1 or 2 more items, depending on role.

That sounds like a good plan. I'll look at that concept when I start equipping my PC. Thanks!

I usually look if my decision affects the masterwork armor threshold (it does not in this game) and I have some favorite enchantments I usually choose over others (like fortification for heavy armor).

Yeah. And there are definitely some items at certain item levels that benefit particular classes and sometimes certain roles. Obviously, when possible, those items take precedence over a simple +1 upgrade or something. Also, I always look for properties over daily powers. Encounter powers are rare, but I don't mind those as much.

Alright guys, here is the summary of my character with changes made and equipment purchased. Care you give him a once over, and give me any suggestions on how to improve him?

Glad to see Rhun is making progress. To my untrained eye Lucien looks good. I'll have to do some reading to say for sure. Thoughts on a background?

Hey Leif how's Manus coming?

If you wanna do two weapon fighting, it's not a bad idea to take Two Weapon Defense. It's a +1 to AC and Reflex that stacks with your rhythm blade, and helps offset your lack of shield.

Tempest Technique gives the Two Weapon Defense feat as a bonus feat (MP p. 7).

Rhun-shouldn't Lucian's AC be 22 21?
10 + 2 level + 6 chain +1 magic armor +3 DEX +1 rhythm blade in off-hand +1 Two weapon defense

Forgot about the light armor limit to adding DEX/INT bonus
