Discussion of Scotley's upcoming 4e Swashbuckler Game

Ooooh! Ooooh! Manous wants to help. It's something he's good at, too, but not as good as an indiscriminately foe-marking fighter! Still he can help keep the riff-raff from ganging up on Lucien too badly. ;)

Sounds good to Lucien!

(OOC - Are we still on round 1, or what? Sorry, just a little confused. I figured Scotley would be posting a round summary that revealed what happened to whom, and update the map, before we started posting our next actions.)

This.

Just realized that our initiative discussion has been posted in the IC thread. I think it would cut down tremendously on the confusion over there if we could limit our posts in that thread strictly to those that directly relate to the IC action. With this many players, one round is already going to be a minimum of 10 or 11 posts - and that's assuming everything goes right.

Just realized that the above mentioned confusion is one of my arguments for keeping individual initiative order as rolled, and posting in that order.

Scotley's already stated that he intends for this game to progress at a leisurely pace. This is my preference as well, and I know Rhun's stated that preference also.

If we roll individual initiative, and if everyone could just wait for their turn to post, there will be much less confusion and no retconning!

Again, the key to using individual initiative in PbP is for everyone to wait their turn. If that happens, the rest falls into place very well!

And if we could find someway to make DeWar stop posting extraneous running commentary in the IC thread that would help a great deal, too. :p
Just have to warn that you will have to possibly wait for me every second weekend because of the crappy connection when we visit my in-laws.
No way, man! All the rest of us are going to be leisurely about it, but YOU must find a way to post no less often that once every 2-3 days! :p

I was actually going to say something about this, so I'm glad to see you beat me to it!

Leisurely is absolutely fine with me. And I'm good with waiting to post if we are running individual initiatives. The only thing is I'm not on often during the weekends, so if post time comes up then it may delay me to Monday.

For my part, I will try to be more judicious in making sure everyone has posted their actions that occur prior to Colin's turn. Remember, though, that Colin IS a dwarf and thus, perpetually drunk.

If we stick w/ init order and enforced post-by-order, then it behoves those that post to assist by having a "OOC: SOmeone is up" at the end of their post to help keep track; it's gonna get thorny with 10. Using a mention (the stonegod things) could help as well.

(and, w/ immediate actions, the init order rull rule will have to be broken. As w/ our swordmage or fighters which use both).

True on both counts. I'm happy to put up a mention for whoever follows Aislinn in the order. She also has one (maybe two) immediate interrupts - those will have to happen outside the initiative order as well. Nothing's going to work perfectly, of course, but something's got to work better than what we're doing. I'm completely lost as far as who's where and doing what to whom. I've got an immediate interrupt or two that could really be helpful, but I have no idea when or where to use them.
