Naw, you're thinking along Four-rotten Smells (Forgotten Realms) logic there. Rincewind is an anti-hero, as in he's the antithesis of what a hero is. Cohen is a hero, Rincewind is just in the wrong place at precisely the right time. You've also gotta remember that up until... err... which book was it, 'The Light Fantastic' I think, the Octavo was protecting him and after that, 'The Lady' watched over him so a lot of his survival is kinda Deus Ex.Sixchan said:I dunno. In Interesting Times, he was awfully popular, so he might have a higher Charisma. And I'd still have his dexterity above 18, since he is a fast runner, and since almost all NPCs that are Campaign specific have very high stats, so Rincewind not even having one seems a little...out.
Naw, again, I think you're thinking too high. The Discworld is full of average savages who get bonked on the noggin once and pass out, not munchy dark elves with two swords of speedSixchan said:Hmm...what would Carrot's charisma be? Well above 20, I'd say. Could even be in the 30s...![]()
Sixchan said:I think he has more common sense and perception than that of an 8 wisdom, personally. And he does know one spell. Actually since he can cast it spontaneously, does that make him a sorceror?

And, IMHO, the Luggage is waaaaay underpowered there. You forgot:
a) it's totally invulnerable to magic
b) it thinks, therefore it has an intelligence score
c) it's beaten up Chrimera and Very Big Sharks before now, without suffering significant damage
As much as I'd love to play in the Discworld, I agree. I think freeform, diceless roleplaying is probably the best way to go but even then, you'd need a DM who can REALLY think on his feetwolff96 said:I *LOVE* the Discworld series. But I just don't think you can capture what makes them great into a system that isn't horrifically broken.
Yes, well, there's always ONE who points out such niggling little details like this, Mr. Wolf. Are you sure you're not a Technologist? You look suspiciously ASTUTE! We can't have that; astuteness is the harbinger of curiosity, and we all know what happened to the cat now, don't we?!wolff96 said:Oh, and Fourecks... What about Ponder Stibbins (sp?) and his gang of students? As we saw in Soul Music and some of the later works, they actually ARE trying to understand the universe. Mainly through the equivalent of computers and quantum physics in a middle ages world, but...
Well, Lao became the god of time so I think his ranking is pretty clear, but Susan wouldn't have to be a demi-god. She could easily do all of her stuff with a few levels of expert and a hefty template that gave her, her special abilities.wolff96 said:As a side note, Susan Sto Helit and Lao-tzu are definitely in the demi-god range, MINIMUM.
wolff96 said:Lao-tzu's friend (whose name escapes me)... the sweeper in the temple. He is probably a minorly epic-level character with a time-related prestige class in addition to his monk levels...
