Disney's disastrous year

Being a fan of a POS billionaire is pathetic. And incels have been trying (and failing) to boycott Marvel/Disney at least since Captain Marvel came out. I highly doubt that a few thousand bootlicking losers on Twitter whining will be responsible for any change at Disney.

Yes, recent Disney movies and shows seem to have lost a lot of money. Yes, they will probably have to change direction in the future. Muskrats won't have anything to do with that.

Oh and Elon Musk has roughly 165 MILLION followers, if just 2% of them cancel their Disney+ subscriptions, that's over 3 million subscribers lost, most of them in high value regions, then yeah Igor will be freaking out when that happens.

Paramount and Disney need to make peace with Elon and others they have alienated, including the lead actress of Scream 7.

It failed in ratings which equals money spent. There is real apathy now for dr who.
what?

Doctor Who fans are eating well this year because of the 60th anniversary celebrations, with the three specials being the main course. Last Saturday, The Star Beast arrived and satisfied most fans, but it appears its success was bigger than anticipated.

Daily Mail has the details about its Saturday-night launch in the UK, where it pulled in "around 5 million average viewers with a peak of just more than 6 million." This is a marked improvement over Jodie Whittaker's last-ever episode, which "only racked in 3.6 million average viewers with a peak of 4 million." The special episode is built around a reunion between Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) and the 14th Doctor with the face and body of the 10th Doctor (David Tennant). Questions and mysteries abound, but for the most part, the first of the three specials kept things fun.

For the record I'm a fan of no Billionaires.

And Incel is an offensive and sexist term and even worse encourages folks to view themselves in nilistic and bitter ways that can lead to violent radicalism if adopted as a self image, usually inflicted upon themselves, but occasionally upon others.

Try to have more compassion for others please.
We are absolutely NOT going to put up with defence of the toxic incel culture on this forum, and we’re certainly not going to be gaslighted into thinking we’re the sexist ones.
And more brand damage which is harder to calculate, but is far worse than a single TV movie doing poorly long term.
OK, this is literally now just pure misinformation.

I’m certainly starting to understand you better recently and the sort of YouTube videos you watch. So let me warn you: this forum is not going to be used as part of any anti-inclusive culture war agenda. Period.

Which ratings did it fail in? The record breaking figures in the Uk? Or the 84% audience appreciation score? Or are you referring to some secret Disney+ numbers only you know about?

Again: cite, please.
I amended my post. It lost out to capaldis the return of dr mysterious and you basically have one of the most beloved actors returning.

I do believe in superhero fatigue and I'm a long time comic geek. But before we had superhero fatigue we had reboot fatigue, the superhero movies gave us a break, (other than the endless rebooting of batman). Now they've burned us out on superhero's, amped up the reboots and sequels and attempted to do it with more CGI, more special effects, and at one point I would have said shoddy writing but I recently read that the current thing on movies is to make the plot fluid till the movie is finished so that if the director, the marketing team or anyother person in the chain decides they need a cool tie in to a book, a theme park or an opportunity to tie it to a toy they can just change up the ending or any other main plot point without reshooting scenes. So yeah Shoddy writing and generic story lines that are easy to change on a whim.

I do think a discussion could be had over whether it's superhero fatigue or "the universe is going to die" fatigue. I think there is still a market for superhero's saving thier friends, cities, local hangouts etc, that are fun and not a crawl through glass to get to Thannos or the next BBEGI.
I think that's my point regarding Superhero Fatigue - It's not the Superheroes themselves that anyone is ever tired of. It's the presentation. No one needs to see Batman's Origin again is Reboot Fatigue. No one wants to watch the plug-and-play that you describe above. Formula Fatigue. No one cares about the big CGI battle at the end that's been done to death: Spectacle Fatigue.

It's not actually Superhero Fatigue.

The original post was about Disney. Covid and mismanagement plus superhero fatigue are being blamed but it’s just a poor product. The excuses are coming from iger. Iger isn’t giving the excuses for my benefit. You tell me who he’s giving them 2

Now you have a spinoff show gen v that dominated in streaming ratings (I haven’t watched) with solid reviews etc. it’s mostly women in the lead roles

One coukd also start a thread on Twitters year. We have tgat thread elsewhere. He's slashed 2/3rds of it'ds value and that was before his current dribble.

I object to the term Muskrats though. It's offensive to actual Muskrats.

Never used Twitter, never well thought it was trash in 2012 and won't remotely miss it if it craters.

Elemental and Dr Who at least were fun at least.

Seems twiiters just a badly run Enron now.
